"Cash. And I am a dentist."

I agree completely, and I'm a patient. I've been on Medicare for ten years now and have required a root canal and also a tooth implant, as well as, of course, regular cleanings and exams. I have paid cash. All the insurance plans I have seen, including from employers, have higher combined co-pays and premiums than what my cost was.

I can’t give you personal advice but there are always alternatives to 30K worth of work.

Unless you think you’ll have a LOT of serious dental issues, it’s generally a lot cheaper in the long run to pay out of pocket...

I have Aetna Medicare, which includes a dental allowance (reimbursement after you pay) for up to $1000 per year.

Our savings. Sad isn’t it? Come here illegally everything free. America can’t help old people with sensible dental insurance we can afford. And have a look at the ratings of the dentists they require you to use if you try their “insurance”.

Anyone here want a one star dentist to get in your mouth?

VA coverage exists. It is narrow. They do have a discounted Delta insurance plan. You gotta do the research.

Unless you have service connected mouth issues it’s not free healthcare as you might envision.

Have you shopped around, or offered cash?

AVS dental discount plan. Its incredible. $199 per year for a couple and we have saved thousands this year alone on Mr. GG2’s molar implant and crown. We only get $1000 per year dental allowance from Aetna Medicare advantage so our oral surgeon suggested AVS and it cut his bill almost in half.

Well when I was 20 back in 1982-83 I was working for Fedex (Federal Express back then) and I had dental insurance and my teeth were pretty much destroyed by this corrupt dentist that would have big breasted assistants stand over me literally with their boobs inches from my face and he would give me nitrous oxide and then proceed to drill the crap out of my teeth for the insurance money.

I trusted him and years later when all the root canals and caps started falling apart another dentist told me I got scammed, and if you can believe it the bastard is still practicing and he blocks all reviews of him on the net. I called a lawyer and he said I waited too long to sue, so I’m pretty much left with a set of teeth that are a disaster. One of the infuriating things in my life because it’s cost me a fortune to save the teeth I have left.

What drives the knife deeper is my brother who is gay went to him one time back then and immediately recognized what he was doing, the big breasts didn’t work on him, and he got up and left after this dentist told him he had 14 cavaties, and he WARNED me but I was too stupid, I thought he was a cool dentist

Wow, that’s a terrible story.

Yes, dentists and doctors do that. I’m fortunate I know something about medicine. Just had a dentist two years ago tell me I needed a tooth pulled after an x-ray. I saw a healthy root and figured it was an infection. I told him run me through ten days of antibiotics and if it doesn’t clear up then fine.

It cleared up.
Your tragedy angers the hell out of me.

My grandpa used to point out the scammers and dentists/MD’s overcharging and worse. The hard thing is finding these scumbags and getting rid of them.
So sorry about your teeth. That dentist should have his all knocked out, no novacaine.

This is the guy who did it to me and I don’t care who knows. I post his name and warn people where ever I can. I cannot believe he is still in business in the same building and if you’ll notice, there are no reviews........

$$$$$. This what we do. We pay cash. The damned “plans” out there cost more than the cash.

I'm on Medicare and have a no cost supplemental policy.

It covers $2500, in addition too the 2 yearly cleanings and xrays. There are different options, such as transportation, dental, etc.

A person has to find a company that offers different services. Also the dentist needs to accept that particular insurance.
