EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. Good New Year’s Day morning! Did you have a good night?
Mine was worse than most, but it was for a good cause.
I thought I would sleep until at least 0700, but the pain woke me up, so here I am. Unngh. It’s the pain that almost always wakes me up.
So this one will be staying home today. There just isn’t enough time for the water heater to do its job and me be ready by 0830. Pam sent me a text yesterday asking if I needed a ride this morning, so I told her I’d let her know by 0800.
What a way to start a new year. 🙁

Good morning. Not bad. I got up around 2:00 and found Vlad still on the sofa. I told him to get the lights off and go to bed immediately, the nebbish.
DP is planning to go to Mass at 9:00 this morning. I think I’ll see if Frank and Kathleen want to get up and go to church in English for a change.
There’s a good way to start the new year — a 180° change from the old year!
Like us going from 1130 to 0900. But with only two wards meeting in the building, they can stretch the time out and not have to find rooms for classes at the end of Sacrament Service.
Anyway, I’m off to the shower to warm up.

It’s 64° out and in this neck of the woods, at this time of year, that means tornadoes are possible. Lots of warnings on the weather website, and they all have to do with this evening and later on tonight.
There seems to be more tornado warnings and events in the 15 months I’ve been here than there has since I’ve been monitoring the weather here. At least six years. I don’t like it.

Good morning. Did you sleep well?
I’m thinking of a nap, because I doubt if I’ll get through this day without one, but I’m not sure I’m ready for that, yet.
All the Christmas decorations were down and put away in the clubhouse this morning, and that was a shock for some reason. But I don’t blame her!
The migraine is trying to come back.
Good morning, and not bad. I’ve just finished washing dishes, and next, I’ll go see if the cats need more food in the sunroom. It’s not cold here.
It’s dark here. I can’t tell if it’s fog or just clouds that are almost low enough to be fog. I’m dreading this night for sure. But I just plugged in the emergency radio, just-in-case. It has an emergency weather station, so I’m good. I think. Well in view of the fact that the Other Folks don’t ride herd on me that much.
I logged another two hours sleep plus about 10 minutes, and at the moment I don’t feel too bad. Even the worst of the pain is gone, which is a real relief for me. I’ll get up from here in a bit and hang the clothes.
Then I’ll begin to gather up Nativities and begin to put them away. I began saving grocery bags a while back to use as padding when I began to pack, so it doesn’t matter if the padding is for the Nativities or something else. They’re all going with me!
