EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Oh, ArGee, is your daughter alright? I’m so sorry to hear about her and your rescue efforts in the middle of the night! Prayers for all of you!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I had to listen to my uplifting talk, then got interrupted by a bazillion text messages to make sure I’m OK (of course I am — I’m a tough ol’ bird!) to which I responded: yes, longjohns, leg warmers, sweaters and space heater. I still haven’t written to Charlie and it seems to be getting harder and harder to do that. Darnit.
FD had some icy stuff under an outside door, and I told her I’d send her my “draft dodger”/door snake on Tuesday, but that I had to wash it first. I told her to put throw rugs or blankets in front of all the doors and to get a plastic kit for the French doors to help insulate them through the winter.
Golly. You can get everything on Amazon these days!
It is cold, definitely!
I’m very sorry about your daughter’s accident. It’s dangerous out there!
It’s up to 15° but the wind chill is still 0°, so even though the sun is shining, it’s not a very good day to be outside.
The thread is awfully slow today, as well.
Did you get the tree put up?
I thought I’d get started on the Lego wannabe Nativity, but it’s still sitting in the bags I packed the pieces in when I disassembled it for the move to Utah — whenever that was going to take place.
That reminds me. I need to email Chuck. And I haven’t written to Charlie. My bad.
The mold has been very bad, lately, and it makes my nose run almost constantly. Houses are filled with the stuff in this climate.
No, we haven’t put the tree up. Maybe tomorrow ...
Frank’s friend Mars is here because the electricity is off at their house. I told his parents they can come, too: we’d even figure out something for their dog.
Stay warm, and stay on the roads traveling... and, have a very Merry Christmas!!
🎄
Good Afternoon!
Late start as many chores keeping me busy...
But a three spot on the Wordle, so I guess it was worth the wait! LOL
Wordle 552 3/6

So glad that your daughter is OK... and that you got her to your home safe and sound!
Cars can be repaired or replaced....
Good job on that Triple!!
Yepper. Lots of people are busy today.
I’ve been debating about the Christmas pings but will wait for the day. All the Undeaders will just get to read the good wishes on Monday or Tuesday!
It’s kind of you to do that, but then that’s how you are, so it’s not surprising. At least, not to me.
I thought PW was going to come over today. She said she was running errands and did I need anything, and might come later, but it’s after 1500 and it’s time for FS to be showing up after another grueling day, so PW won’t be here.
My back is beginning to hurt, so it won’t be long before I go get parallel to the deck.
Lisa says the power company is at work on their street, and they may have electricity by tonight. Mars will stay over anyway, though.
One of my Idaho nieces sent me a pound of homemade toffee!
Oh, it is to die for!!
And now, I’m going to slither off to take my pills then head for the bedroom. I stepped out to get the mail, and it seems ever heat pump in the complex was running at the same time. The South just isn’t used to this kind of weather. And neither of these old folks!
I hope you have a good night! We’ll be leaving to sing for the homeless mission shortly. We can practice our Spanish pieces for Sunday while the guests are eating dinner and then do some popular English songs.
Yes, I agree, wait for the day, and all will see them whenever they arrive...
🎄
Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah, Undeaders!
Many of you may be suffering from this blizzard and its accompanying cold snap, so I’m wishing you and yours a toasty Christmas Eve’s Day!
I hope today and tomorrow are as good as they can be under whatever circumstances.
Just remember, you’re all in my prayers.
(If you want on or off the Wordle Ping list please let me knoe.)
Good morning. All is calm here, for now, but I hear the power is out at the slum apartment uptown, so we may be getting Sally, Pat, James, and assorted animals.
What a sweet little brindle!
Happy Christmas Eve’s Day!
Well, I guess there’s nothing like unexpected guests for the holidays!
Just as I was getting ready to call it a day, PW sent me a text saying she would be here in “about 30 minutes.” Unngh. So I told her I’d unlock the door so she didn’t have to stand in the cold and wait for me to answer it. She was here for almost an hour, talking about her childhood and her ADD and her grandparents in Canada and on and on.
Her original reason for coming was to bring me some cupcakes that she made.
It wasn’t bad, but her timing was way off!
Then Mona called and asked for some packing tape, and PW looked at the time and said my FS was probably home from work (1800 by the wall clock!) and just as she was leaving Mona came. They both stood by the door, which was open, (storm door was closed) and neither of them wanted to leave. I just wanted to take my pills and go to bed.
I went out to get the mail from a frozen mailbox, and found a pound of homemade toffee from one of the Idaho nieces! The stuff is yummy, but it will take me a while to eat it. I suppose I’ll be giving it to peeps for Christmas. And New Year. I’ll send some to Janie with the door snake.
