EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

I’m glad! How long since her last seizure? I try to keep track, but I don’t have a calendar handy. And it isn’t important to anyone but you, (and perhaps my own curiosity.) ;o]

If I’m doing things correctly, Monday was 5 weeks.

Is that longer than what it has been? Seems to me about the longest was four weeks. But like I said, I don’t keep close track, and in any event, I’ve slept since her last one, so....

...I think I’ll make some bread today, even though it’s a little cool in here. I want to bake it in the oven but I’m afraid of the power bill.

I got excited thinking about making bread but decided to find a really good whole wheat recipe I could use in the bread machine. I found one that used a tablespoon of peanut butter for part of the oil, but since I don't have peanut butter, I've decided to use almond butter.

But it will have to wait for tomorrow. By the time I found the recipe and a few other articles on the same site (such as converting any bread recipe to the bread machine) it was far too late to start. However, I'll have plenty of time tomorrow to read up on what I want to know, and if FS comes by, I'll have him test it.

He can take some home to the über-critic, PW.

There was a time when she was going a few months. But recently it had been on the order of a week. So we’re happy with this 5 week stint.

And if it’s really her liver that’s causing the seizures and this food helps her liver we could significantly reduce them.

I certainly hope the food helps, ArGee. No one likes to see their pet suffer, because we always feel so helpless. They can’t tell us where they hurt.

So prayers up for success with the food!

It was mild sympathy. I hope things work out for you to go somewhere with Pam on Friday.

Younger Hairbro is doing the dishes because he came to dinner with his hair all over. Yuck.

One thing is sure and that’s that Younger Hairbro isn’t Sampson. And Double Yuck.

I hope I feel up to going with Pam on Friday. And I hope it’s earlier in the day, as well. But beggars can’t be choosers.

Cute little guy!

Good morning! I hope you had a good night.

Were you able to go to the farm yesterday?

Happy December Oneth!

It’s pill sorting day for me as well as grock delivery day. Excitement!!

Mrs. Stone said it was too wet yesterday, and she was taking her dog to the vet for a flu shot. After some discussion of schedules, we agreed that I’ll call her Monday.

I’m exhausted today after going to bed before 9:00. Fortunately, there’s not much to do except chivvy Vlad, Frank, and Kathleen through their Envirothon homework.

I’m so sorry you have The Punies. That’s not a good feeling.

For some reason, I couldn’t fall asleep when I wanted to last night, and just about the time I was ready (2215) a text came in from Pam, saying she’d like to take me to breakfast Friday morning, then go to Walmart. She wanted me to go unload a semi- for the area food pantry today, (FS and PW will be there as she is the PR person for the Stake) as well as Ladies Luncheon on Tuesday next week, and try to sandwich church in there, as well.

I almost panicked because I couldn’t think why she wanted me to do all this stuff since she’s a nurse and is familiar with CFIDS. Insidious disease — people don’t look sick!

Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!

We had a rather lot of rain yesterday and some serious wind. Not damaging wind, but noisy. Today we’re supposed to get some snow. I hope we don’t have ice underneath it.

Another fiver day.

Good Friday Eve, Wordlers!

Here’s today’s effort. It was another one of those, “Let me try THIS word!” deals. I fully expected it to be a Fiver Day.

I remember back in the early ‘80s when the word “like” started to become a popular filler word. I would hear someone say, “It’s, like, really cold outside.” I’d want to reply, “So your nose gets red and starts running, and your ears hurt, but the temperature is high? Is that what you’re saying?

I held my tongue. And now everything’s a simile.

Nah. If I’d have used it that way, it would have been, “It’s, like, winter in here.” Alternatively, I could have said, “It feels like winter in here.”

What gets to me is professional broadcasters phrasing their statements as if they were a question: It’s like winter in here? And there’s a new storm coming in from the northwest? It should hit us overnight?

The voice goes up at the end of the sentence.

One of the guys on the NC board proposed replacing “like” with “like unto being.”

Instead of, “Tom is, like, a total slacker,” I would say, “Tom is like unto being a total slacker.”

“Because of my age and health, I can’t do all those things in such a short period of time. I would like to (pick the one you want), though. Thank you so much for asking me.”

People who are well easily forget that some other people are not as well. I ran into that in my pregnancies: I couldn’t expect anyone to give me a break, especially because, “You chose to get pregnant.”

Got any 7’s?

Nobody’s sure of anything anymore since there’s no reality. So there can’t be statements. There can only be questions.
