EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

It sounds like you’re doing great!
Tom has a Brandon Sanderson novel playing on audio. It has lively and well-designed action scenes.
Well, A “Yes, Ma’am!” actually. 8<)
The year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added which are of so extraordinary a nature that they can not fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever-watchful providence of Almighty God.
In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign states to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere, except in the theater of military conflict, while that theater has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union.
Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defense have not arrested the plow, the shuttle, or the ship; the ax has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well as the iron and coal as of our precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege, and the battlefield, and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.
It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.
And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the imposition of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the divine purpose, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.
— President Abraham Lincoln, Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1863
May God be pleased to so graciously move upon us all in such reviving power as to fully reinvigorate the sense and spirit of this historic proclamation, and rekindle among the people of this blessed nation such righteousness as is necessary to sustain it.
God Bless you all this Thanksgiving Day.
Until He Comes,

Thank you, HKMk23, and best wishes for a fine day!
Kewl!! Done!!
Thanks!
I’m done.
The dinner isn’t until 1600 and I’m already bushed, so I’ll eat and run before anyone gets too comfy. Mainly, the ride home driver!
I need to call my Real Brother.
Congratulations on your success! Patrick is here, playing video games with James and Vlad. Tom is still cooking.
Thanks! I don’t know how I’m going to maneuver at this meal. I just want to sit in one spot and stay there until it’s time to come home.
The PW will be expecting kudos over her preparations, and I’m thinking if I hadn’t hurt myself on these cookies, I’d leave them as well as me at home. Now I’ll have to tough it out, and I just really don’t want to. Unngh.
Nuts. I need to call Charlie and I just put my phone to charge.
Tell her it’s wonderful, whatever it is. It doesn’t cost anything! Maybe sitting in one spot will work.
Oh, I always do! The old flies and honey thing works overtime.
Anyway, I’ve got about 20 minutes before I have to leave, so I’m going to take my evening pills and call it a night until I get home. I’ll see ya then! If you’re still around. ;o]
I hope it’s working out okay there. People are letting their supper settle before they have pie.
I’m back in one piece. The cookies were an absolute smash hit, and even Herself liked them. She gave me a hug as I was leaving.
They’re all playing JackBox, and I played one three-round game with them and begged off.
James’ birthday is a week from tomorrow and they’re having a party for him on Saturday at 1500. I don’t know what to get him so I guess it’s going to be an Amazon card or a Walmart card. Good thing Friday is payday.
Anyway, I didn’t have to dig into my stash of witticisms, AND, there were cookies left over so I just left them there. They’ll be gone tomorrow. FS tried some here, then ate some there, so he’ll have to be very careful for the next few days.
I hope your day was enjoyable.
I’m glad to hear everything went okay. I see that JackBox is a video game. Hope it was fun!
All fine here, but Sally left some leftovers she was supposed to take home. I went to bed before 9:00, but others were up longer and probably won’t appear this morning.
Good morning. Happy Friday!
I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. The experiment with the grocery store meal went OK. Everyone who is not us seems to put a lot of salt in everything. I’m always very thirsty after eating food not prepared by Mrs. ArGee.
Now to get my head back in a working mode.
Somehow I couldn’t guess yesterday’s obvious Wordle answer until the 5th try. With another 5-spot today my 3s are falling further behind.

Good morning. I don’t use much salt at home, either, which makes the rest of the world taste very salty. Glad your meal went well!
I’m working on securing the leftovers. I had some of it done before I went to bed, but there were people still eating at that point.
It’s raining here. Jake and Shannon are unhappy. They were already unhappy because Anoreth’s Dog was here, even though it just lay on the dining room floor looking mostly dead. It’s an ancient dog.
Is the dog’s name Matt?
Yesterday F-I-L said, “Why am I suddenly feeling a draft?” He was very concerned. I pointed to our dog’s wildly wagging tail and he laughed.
I know exactly what you mean! I didn't think that they had any sort of timeliness to them...
We cooked a turkey and two pans of dressing and took them to the in-laws down the road where about 30 of us gathered...
Came home too full to do anything but lay down and fall asleep!
Good Friday Morning!
Hoping that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving feast!
Back on the four train for me to start the day...

I notice that too... more so of late... I think that they are using more and more salt for some reason or another...
