EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Good morning Wordlers!
The way this thing started, I wasn’t sure how it was going to finish, but it turned out OK.

I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Good morning. I slept until almost 7:00.
I think it’s very nice to have cookies. And good luck with the chapel!
I was exhausted, but I woke up with a start at 0520 and it was enough to propel me out of bed.
Now, though, I need to get dressed. It’s only 27° out and 74° in here, so it’s a little chilly. And the furnace is wonky. I just noticed it last night before I went to bed that the thermostat was at 71° and that was the temp. I thought I had set it to 74, but it’s not working right. Always on a weekend.
What a sweet curious little face!
Good morning. I hope you slept well, after your day at the farm.
I usually ask if I can bring something to the functions, but this time, I’m not going to ask. I’m just going to bring them. The grandkids will be happy and maybe even my FS will. Don’t know about PW and don’t wanna know.
They went to a charity function last night to fill up 350 boxes with food for needy families for Thanksgiving. PW was in charge of it all (technically) and it was well done. I don’t know how long it took but I was amazed at how well put together it was. Kudos to her.
If I go clean the chapel with them, I can do what I want, away from them and still do my share of the service project. I don’t get many chances to serve, so I’m looking forward to this. It will take me out of my elephant for the night, but I’ll make it! I’ll just come home and fall into bed!
Ha-ha. I’ll be wired until 2200!
We have choir practice this morning and then the rest of the day off, I think. I went to bed about 8:30 last night. Jake wanted me to get up earlier, but I resisted!
I’ve been trying to gather up the loose ends, but here I sit. Maybe an uplifting talk will get me going.
I went to the library and then took James to work. Now I’m working on some music plans, and then I’ll go to nap with Jake.
DP took Frank and Kathleen to the gym.
How do James and his Hair like the job so far?
I hope you have a nice nap with Jake. I really wish I could get used to napping during the day. Maybe, when I get moved back home and get a kitteh, it will all come together like it should.
It’s sunny out for the most part, but with a cold wind, so I really don’t want to be out. I’ll wear a hoodie to clean the chapel. Maybe my Chik-fil-A will do. When I bought it (Henderson) it was too small, and I almost despaired of ever wearing it. Then I was in Hurricane and wanted to wear a hoodie and it seemed about the right weight, and it was almost too big, so it should be perfect tonight.
FS says it will take about an hour to an hour and a half to clean the chapel so I won’t be nearly as wired as I thought I’d be. Maybe! I’m just so tired. I almost want to cancel, but I’ll just say a prayer and move on out like I had good sense!
James likes the job pretty well. Most of the time, it’s not a lot of effort, especially on Sundays, when he works at the Town Hall. People rent rooms for parties and stuff, and he just has to be on call and help clear up. The job will be “on pause” for the depths of winter, though. He’ll need another source of income, because rent is supposed to start when he turns 19 in January.
Ah. Well, since he’s already employed, it should be fairly easy to get another job in the meantime. Perhaps it would be incentive for someone else.
If Tom worked 60 hours per *month* at $10/hour after tax, he would pay his auto insurance, phone, and a couple of other things. Gah.
I’m hoping that doing farm work will motivate James and Vlad to emphasize day jobs, because otherwise, they’re on the hook for farm work at whatever Mrs. Stone has to pay them. Yesterday she gave me $35, and I gave 20 to Vlad and 15 to James based on my perception of their labor effort.
She has plenty of assets, but I think she’s still in the “OMG! What happened?” period after her husband’s death this summer, and he had dementia before that.
Well, yes, I can understand the motivation for day jobs, because though she may have assets, she may not have a good understanding of how to distribute them.
So Day Jobs at hourly wages would be good.
Now, I think I’m going to take my pills. Working at the chapel was a big help! I had gone through all the pews before anyone else had done anything more than get started with their shares. I think PW’s mouth was going a lot faster than she was, but she had a lot of reasons why, so maybe she felt she deserved to sandbag.
FS was finished vacuuming just a little while after I was done, so it worked out fairly well.
Mrs. Stone owns her property outright, probably at least 20 acres, which is a lot of value even though the rural-land peak has passed. And there’s a ton of Stuff, a small RV, a trailer, a house that would be fine with work.
I don’t mind helping out just for the exercise and giving her some company. Kathleen follows her around, chattering, and I’m sure it’s a nice change from being alone.
However, the house will need real construction folks in the near future, and we are not that. I’m hoping her children will be around at the holidays and realize that she needs more help than some kids and a mom from the church.
GAH is right!
It’s a very useful term.
Good Evening!
Late start today...
Great job, ‘Face, on quite a streak of 3s!
Normal four train ride for me...
