EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Yes, I will go to the Q when I discover a U...

W00t!!

Of course! That mournful cry of, “MA! He’s killin’ me!! He’p me! He’p me!” The cry of badly beaten and mistreated fat cats everywhere.

Exactly why I have never let my cats outside unaccompanied. Not to mention there are people who like to run over cats and will go out of their ways to do it.

Tom said the vet’s technician said, “He seems healthy and happy,” and he and Vlad looked at her like, “Can’t you hear the screaming?” But Jake is fine.

Did someone miss spell check?

Speaking of which, what's wrong with this picture?

A cat sitting quietly in its unacceptable receptacle would be an unhappy cat.

Yes, that would be Jake, alright!

Happy and healthy on the outside and screaming from terror on the inside. Yepper.

The pills are sorted, and while I was in that corner, I added a coat of Mod Podge to the tile. Just putting on the first coat yesterday proved it needed more protection. There are a couple of tiny endings that lifted, so I pushed them into place and painted over them, hoping that it fixed the problem.

The small fan is now blowing on the tile to help dry it a little faster. I didn’t know how high the humidity was yesterday, but it’s 40% right now, so hopefully, the stuff dries without too much difficulty.

When it’s cured, I’ll put some felt on the back of the tile to keep it from scratching any surfaces. In case someone decides to use it for a trivet. The felt probably won’t be done until tomorrow or the day after.

Or a very, very sick one. Jake is not sick. In other good news, the mechanic has finally looked at the van and said they can fix the Clank today, for only an arm and a leg, no vital organs.

Not having to give vital organs is a good thing. You can always pay with one or two of the lesser useful Bros arms or legs. I’m sure the mechanic will understand.

My Walmart delivery was very late today. I always choose between 0800 and 0900, and sometimes, they’re here by 0740. Today it was almost 0840, and it would seem it’s his first time. I saw him pull in partway, reading the building numbers as he hesitated. Then he backed in (most of them don’t even though at least one case of water is always on the list) which was a good thing, but he delivered the groceries to the chair between my apartment and Kay’s.

It made more work for me, because I have to prop the storm door open to get the water in, so I had to go around the door to get everything. If he delivers for very long he’ll get to where he understands things. I hope.

8:40 is between 8 and 9. I sent you another birthday card today. Or maybe Christmas.

Tom, the hopeless cripple, carried Jake in the Receptacle out to the car this morning, even though I said, “I can carry him if you’ll hold the door.” This suggests his hopeless cripple status is a bit of a dodge.

Yes, I know, but I've been so spoiled by other delivery drivers. Still I was cheerful and grateful. Very grateful. It beats the alternative.

On the other hand, I just got a text message from Walmart/FedEx that part of my grocery order was delivered almost an hour ago. Presumably by the same blind FedEx driver that can't read the sign that says "ALL DELIVERY PERSONS..."

I would have to agree with your assessment of the hopeless cripple.
