EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Good morning, ffolks!
Another, “Let me try this word and see what happens,” thing. And then I said, “Wow. How’d I do that again?”

Good morning and happy 🐪 day!
I hope everyone is having a good day so far. Dang - below freezing already, ArGee?
I’m on the four train today.

I’ve been to the physical therapist. They are pleased with my progress. Teh yutes are nagging me to go to Walmart now, so I guess I will.
Excellent news! The important thing is, are you feeling much better? Feeling the progress?
Have fun at Wally World!
Good Morning!
Wow, you 3-spot champs today must be living well!
I thought that I was going to run out of road again...

I certainly can see how a day can devolve along those lines!!
😂
5’s are nothing to be concerned about.
Tomorrow I’ll share the breakthrough I used on word 2 that helped make this one a quick solve.
Unfortunately, I’ve been there and done that.
👍🏻
I had to dig out the only sweatshirt I own this morning. It’s 70° in here, and I’m just not ready to turn on the furnace.
Good job on your Foursie! But even if it were X/6 I’d still pat you on the back!
It’s good that the PT sees your progress. Trips to Walmart are fun, under the right circumstances!
I’m going to go make my bed, now because I can’t keep sitting here and shivering.
A while ago, I wrote a note to the mail carrier about the package that was left for me yesterday and put it in the outgoing mail slot. Just a flat sheet with a printed message.
I understand now why the regular carrier doesn’t use the parcel boxes — because the locks are too corroded. They’ll have to be replaced. I’ll also have to try and listen for the mail truck so I can wobble out and waylay him/her, just in case.
Old corroded locks, unreliable delivery schedules, and new electronic vehicles. It’s good the USPS has it’s priorities straight.
Good job on stayin’ alive!
I had a supervisor in Vegas who used to run across the street to the bistro during her lunch and play the slots. She came back one day and bragged about how she won $1000, but then added, “Some days, you get the bear and some days, the bear gets you.”
I’ve thought of that saying often since I started playing this game. Especially since I started it in the middle of a relapse! I guess any day we aren’t X/6 is a day we get the bear. Good job on getting the bear one more time!
Indeed!
👍🏻
Yep. Some mail carriers are lazy. Some are victims of habit. The substitute carriers aren’t aware that the one who is out from her knee surgery doesn’t use the parcel boxes. I don’t think she ever has. This is a senior/disabled complex, so she has taken it upon herself to hand-deliver any and all parcels that won’t fit in the mail boxes.
She either hasn’t told others or they have disregarded her, because this is the first time a carrier didn’t knock on my door since I’ve been here. I never hear people knock (old folks knock lightly because it hurts to knock hardly) so I installed a doorbell.
Then, I still had to put a sign on my door that ALL delivery persons needed to ring the bell. Some can’t read or think that they aren’t a person making a delivery. Or maybe just not a person, because they don’t ring the doorbell.
Then, one of my neighbors sees the package, reads my name and rings my doorbell. And some think that because THEY can’t hear it, I can’t either and ring it twice. I had to put it in the bathroom because it’s so loud, even after adjusting the volume as low as I could. It still startles me.
Sorry, ArGee. I just don’t see any way to make the story shorter!
Yes, I’m feeling better.
I’ve checked two things off my list so far. Next, I’ll get “Trees of the Southeast” ready to mail to Elen, USMC.
I would probably feel depressed but for the moon. This day is not only cold but not starting out well. One text at 0500 and another at 0600, and I had shut the alarm off so I could sleep in, after being disturbed last night, resulting in a two-hour gap in my sleep.
*sigh*
It’s OK. It’s what kids do, I guess. Mine, at least. FD is using a SAD light at home and one at work because she’s working a lot of OT and feeling “burned out.” I know how that feels.
FS just wanted to tell me in so many words that he loves me. Whatever works; I’ll take it.
The water was mediocre this morning, so the shower wasn’t as long as I wanted it be and then I realized that there was a puddle of water on the floor when I got out.
I’ll reserve the rest of my comments because they only go down from here.
Unnngh. I’ve done calculations for the parts to make new archery target stands. The prices of the parts have gone up since I looked them up in July! I’m sure someone in the Council is a plumber and can maybe get us a better deal on the connectors.
Gah. James just phoned from the Scouts office, where he locked the keys in the car. Fortunately, we have another key, which is being taken to him by his largely useless brother Tom.
You know what they say, sometimes you’re the dog, sometimes you’re the fire hydrant.
