EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

LOL! Good one!
Back from nap. It wasn’t bad.
Yes, eliminated letters are often the best clues, aside from the green squares!
That makes sense!!
An oldie but a goodie.
Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D.: Age-Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it develops:
I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose, I look over at my car and decide my car needs washing.
As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mailbox earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think, since I’m going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the study to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking. I’m going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don’t accidentally knock it over. I see that the Coke is getting warm and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye; they need to be watered. I set the Coke down on the counter and I discover my reading glasses I’ve been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I’m going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won’t remember that it’s on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs. But first I’ll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
- the car isn’t washed
- the bills aren’t paid
- there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter
- the flowers don’t have enough water
- there is still only one check in my checkbook
- I can’t find the remote
- I can’t find my glasses
- and I don’t remember what I did with the car keys
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I’m baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I’m really tired. I realize this is a serious problem and I’ll try to get some help for it, but first I’ll check my e-mail.
I discovered Midsomer Murders is carried on Tubi so I watched an episode. While the mystery itself was OK, there were 3 featured topics that I’d just rather not have served up with my mysteries so I haven’t watched a 2nd.
But if you haven’t explored Tubi, you may want to.
I have BritBox and Acorn and watch lots of British murder mysteries. Someday, I may start back at the beginning and watch Midsomer Murders and then the Son of Midsomer Murders. There are 24 or 25 seasons of the Midsomer Murders, with the original lead retiring after 22 years and his “cousin” taking over from there.
I’ve watched a bunch of Morse, but I’ve also seen the spin-off of Lewis. Then the prequel series of Endeavour.
Midsomer is on both BritBox and Acorn, but for most, I like BritBox because a lot of the series that Acorn carries have more profanity than I want to listen to.
That’s cute, but I haven’t reached that Age thing, yet.... ;o]
Good! I’m very tired, now, and cold, of course, so I’ll be finding an excuse to go to bed in the next hour or less. I want to watch a bit more of MI-5 or Spooks, as it’s called in GB.
I went out to check the mail but the regular carrier had knee surgery last week, so our mail is coming at strange intervals. I’ll probably get your card in the morning.
Our mail just plain doesn't come some days. I don't know whether that's money saving at the ol' USPS, difficulty finding delivery people, or both.
We didn’t get the Wall Street Journal today. Vlad keeps bringing the mail in even though I told him no to.
I was going to get something done, but people kept phoning. Sally needed to rant about Patrick again. I’m going to call the mechanic and see if they’ve learned anything about the Clank in the van.
The mail finally came, and when I first went out I thought I’d freeze. Well, I should have. For the first time since I’ve been here, there was a key to the package box at the bottom of the kiosk. It has been used so seldom that the key wouldn’t turn.
So I either try to 1. email the USPS tonight and hope someone gets it by tomorrow’s delivery, 2. leave a note on the kiosk for the carrier asking him/her to please come and get the key and give me my package of whatever it is that came, or 3. sit out in the cold from 1330 on until the mail truck pulls in.
I was able to retrieve your card, though!
And now, I’m going to take my silly self down the hall and prepare for bed.
Yes, I know how it is when you can’t get anything done. Sally needs to quit running to mommie whenever she and Pat have a disagreement. They need to work through this stuff themselves, LIKE ADULTS!!
(Sorry. My big mouth.)
It’s okay. Back in the day, you couldn’t just call your parents all the time to rant.
That’s true. We had to work things out, no matter what because once we left home, the parents weren’t “available.”
And if you didn’t have a phone, and they lived away from you, it was big bucks to rant at a pay phone.
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
It was 29 fs when I walked the dog this morning. Brrrr. But the foregnosticated high today is 53 so it won’t stay bad. And the week gets warmer from here. Still, my warmest coat came out as did my hat.
Another 3.

Good morning. I hope you had a good night.
It’s a balmy (or maybe that’s “barmy?”) 28° here and the weather page says you have a toasty 32°.
Then for the next week, we’ll warm up, then start getting cold again. I’m really glad I washed my coat. Now I have to put the hood back on it. The watch cap and warm gloves are waiting. Usually, I have to hunt for them but this place isn’t big enough for them to hide in.
Good job on the Triple again!
Yep it’s cold, alright. It’s heading for 70° in here, so I know it’s cold outside. I hate winter. “They” say this is the earliest it’s gotten this cold since they’ve been keeping records.
