EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Tough one today. I blame my two starter words. You didn’t go X/6 so you’re still alive! Good job!
Ohdear. Give a hairy man some money and he becomes — something else again.
My Real Brother promised me 30¢ if I would polish his shoes for a date. Stupid me, in my eight-year-old mind, I fell for it. Never have seen that 30¢!
Good morning and happy Thursday!
The temps might get down in the 40s at night next week and highs only in the 70s. Ideal autumn weather. :)
I managed a three after staring and staring at Rows 1 and 2, trying to figure out letter placements. Then it went “click!”

I had a particular mental block that I had to break through. The letters I had made no sense and then, DOH!
Happy Thursday morning!
Good job!
That click is probably the same one I hear when I get a Triplet.
Whatever it is, it works. Maybe someday, it won’t, and I’ll be headed for another relapse, but I’ll take it for as long as it lasts!
That is it exactly!
Good job on those three spots!
I had a lot of letters out of place, and it took quite a bit of staring to finally get some in place....
Forgot to add you to the last post, congrats on your three spot as well!
Same here! I had all the vowels and one was placed and I tried a zillion things in my head. I was about to put in a random word to chase out some more consonants and then I looked again and the light came on. LOL
I struggled... three letters out of place for three rows... lots of possibilities with those three... took the fourth row to get two of them locked in...
The good thing is at that point, a fair amount of letters are eliminated...
I knew you meant me, too, so no harm, no foul. ;o]
Some days, it goes like that!
Other days, well, best not to conjure....
I went to Goodwill and bought some things.
Ooohh, yesss!! Goodwill! Thrift store! Yay!!!
Did you get anything good? Hallowe’en costumes? Day of the Dead? New dress?
New dress. Tags still on, original price $109, I got it for $5.99. It’s white cotton, so not something I’ll wear today. Also a new backpack (tags still on) for James at $3.99, a handmade coffee mug (”Another Broken Egg Cafe”), and a picture cats for Kathleen.
Way cool! What a haul! That would totally be worth the trip!
Evening,
Bingo score card completed in two hours.
Spent the afternoon in the autumn sun of Greenwich park.
Most relaxing. The pond at the top of the hill on Hampstead Heath is one of the little hidden gems of that area. Full-on nature reserve in the middle of a road junction. Surrounded in chaos....and yet....ducks, willow trees, seats and calm. Quite unreal.
If the plans that are on display for the new leadenhall building are true, the gherkin will be just a pickle. I hope it is just a builders joke on the hoardings.
A skirt that’s too tight (for now!), a t-shirt for Frank, and a colorful scarf. In terms of utility, the backpack was probably the best deal.

You must all call me “Grandpa” now. :-)
Son#2 and D-I-L have graced me with a granddaughter, AND she shares her birthday with my maternal grandmother, so my Mom is tickled pink over it.
That’s TWO in my family, as Daughter#1 shares her birthday — St. Patrick’s Day — with my Irish Great Grandmother.
Of course, that and $5 will get you decent coffee, so...
Son#3 is at Basic Combat Training in South Carolina, at the moment; graduating November 17th. So I booked a round trip to be there.
THEN I found out that the Army has decreed that Personnel fresh out of BCT MAY ONLY travel to their next Unit location by personal vehicle (or rental car) and NO RIDE SHARING.
Sssssooooo.... my out-and-back becomes a five-day trip, trip expenses just tripled, and BOY am I glad my rental car has unlimited miles.
11/15 - Charlotte, NC
11/16-17 - Columbia, SC
then up I-77 to Parkersburg, WV
11/18 - Strasburg, VA
11/19 - Newport News, VA
11/20 - back to Charlotte.
..and all points in between.
If you’re in the know about any of these areas, let me know where the best regional foods can be had; after paying so much for plane fare, I’d hate to just eat plain fare.
