EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

The calico is the same one from yesterday, and the black one is a littermate.

Even a sixth row guess is good as long as it’s the word of the day! ;o]

Oy!

I would say this is a personal best. I was so discouraged after several X/6s.
Of course it was sheer dumb luck but I will take it!

Back from the science team farm trip. It was really interesting.

Wish I could have been a frog on someone’s backpack! The sounds like a fun excursion!

It suddenly decided to clabber up outside for some reason. I have no idea what tomorrow will be like. Just a lot uglier than out west.

One of my nephews posted a film clip on Facebook today that my sister was filming in VHS format. He must have transferred the files himself, that clever boy! It was sad in a way, because it just reminded me of how long it has been since I heard her voice.

As if I didn’t have enough to be sad about! But there is always the moon to cheer me up!

I imagine it would be. I have absolutely no idea how they grow science teams.

“Cheer up!” he said. “Things could be worse.”

So I cheered up. Sure enough, things got worse.

The moon is very cheery.

The farm had sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and the biggest dog I’ve ever seen. Also vegetables. Looked like a lot of work. Some of the families were saying, “It would be nice if we could do this,” but Vlad and I want to live in an apartment.

The “tunnel” shown in the picture on the home page didn’t look nearly as tidy. It was all end-of-season overgrown. And we didn’t see any cats.

They said the dog was a “Turkish shepherd,” but it might have been this:

Farms are nice to visit, but I wouldn’t want to work on one. I had enough farm experience growing up, thanks!

Yes, indeed. The moon is very cheery!

Oh, wow! Wonderful! Utah has wonderful honey. I think it must be from the sagebrush, cedars and possibly even the piñons.

I bought some local honey and was pretty disappointed. But it doesn’t spoil, so I can mix it with other honey when I want to eat it.

As if I didn’t have enough to be sad about! But there is always the moon to cheer me up!

"It seems my life follows the moon
Sometimes it's empty and sometimes it's full
Spending my time between darkness and light
Going so low, then climbing so high"

Half remembered song I use to sing to youngest daughter.

Only twenty minutes until closing time.
