Fletcher, 34, was abducted on her regular 4 a.m. jog Friday after stalked by Cleotha Abston, who’d waited for her to run past him, the police affidavit alleged. She had run from her home in the fancy Central Gardens neighborhood to a nice area near the University of Memphis campus.
Court records show Abston, 38, is a previously convicted kidnapper: he pleaded guilty to especially aggravated kidnapping and robbery in 2001. He was sentenced to 24 years and 11 years in prison respectively, although it is unclear how long he remained incarcerated and if he served his sentences concurrently.

“As the abduction was violent with, as captured on video, the suspect waiting for, then rushing towards the victim, then forcing the victim into the car, where she was confined and removed and continues to be missing, it is believed and supported by the facts and physical evidence that she suffered serious injury,” the affidavit said.
“Further, it is probable and apparent from witness statements that these injuries left evidence of blood in the car the defendant cleaned,” it continued.

“DNA found on the shoes matched DNA for Cleotha Abston” that was already in a police database, according to the affidavit.

Officers arrested him after finding him standing in the doorway of his home. “He attempted to flee but was taken into custody,” the police document said.
A witness said she saw Abston “cleaning the interior of the GMC Terrain with floor cleaner” just before 8 a.m. Friday morning and reported to police that “he was behaving oddly.” He was also spotted washing his clothes in a sink.
Police have yet to find Fletcher, and are continuing to ask for the public’s help in locating her. Abston would not tell authorities where she is.

I read this morning that they had arrested a suspect, but there was no mention of the the victim. I had a very bad felling and still have it. I’m sorry for the family, not knowing and wishing for the best. I think most of us know what is coming....
Makes no sense. Same reason people get killed by grizzlies bears where I live. Won’t happen to them, lack of situational awareness, ill-prepared, griz bears mean well, etc.
Grizzly*
Common sense isn't common.

Before the news that a Memphis man abducted her, Nancy Grace was insinuating they need to look at the husband.
She needs a therapist
I’m surprised that nobody has sued her broke for her past insinuations.
The husband would gain nothing he paid this creep to murder his wife.
Sigh. Even back in the Seventies when I was there, the city was sketchy and gritty.
I don’t know. All I can think is that many women buy into this “Superwoman” crap, that if they CrossFit, are in shape, and have taken some personal defense training, then they have nothing to fear from any man.
It’s foolish. Men should be concerned about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and women should be doubly so.
It may not be anything like that in this case, but your question is an open one: What is a woman doing jogging alone at 0430 anywhere near Memphis?
His trump card to avoid the death penalty will be telling them where she is.
It is evil. Letting someone like him back on the streets, even if he didn’t do this is evil, and the people who advocate this are our enemies.
It is a cleavage point between the Left and Conservatives. We believe that Evil exists and must be actively fought against. Leftists believe all people are basically good, and society drove them to crime.
Actually, that isn’t exactly true.
LIBERALS think all people are basically good and society drove them to crime.
LEFTISTS understand that criminals exist, and they want to find the best way to utilize them, both by championing their lenient treatment to gain votes, and to terrorize society to make it easier to tyrannize and thus control.
This needs to air on every single television station and cable network in every break from now until Election Day and beyond.
That’s almost a given.
He will probably get a second degree murder conviction, in exchange for her whereabouts.
He can still be put away for the rest of his life if he is convicted of all the charges consecutively if he is convicted.
Sigh. Yes. It is always possible he might have secreted her away somewhere and she might still be alive, but that is a remote possibility.
Filthy beast should be put to death if he is found guilty.
It didn’t save Ted Bundy. He told the authorities he could show them more victims. He gave enough and they said thanks but your wasting Oxygen. Then executed the SOB.
An excellent treadmill is $800. A small price to pay for your life.
In fiction land....
He would tell me where she is - but the authorities wouldn't approve of my methods.
People in this country are losing their damn minds...
I pray that they don’t cave he needs to die
