My heart is heavy. My older brother fell asleep suddenly in the LORD yesterday morning. We are awaiting word on cause of death. He was found could and unresponsive in his chosen place of rest.
The oldest of four siblings, he left his remaining three siblings in mourning, together with a wife and three children, and two fabulous Aussies whom he cherished.
Nicknamed "Clyde" but known as Cboldt to all y'all, he blazed a trail three years ahead of me, excelling in engineering and law. Later in life we would spend hours talking about everything from theology to science and everything in between. I would ask the questions, and he would wax wise. It was his taste in music that exposed me to a wide variety of styles and artists.
Also later in life he became greatly thankful, often and continually expressing wonder at the creation and life's simple blessings. He expressed some disillusionment with his modest material acquisitions and was in the process of arranging their disbursement to his wife and children. He was active in his local parish, helping services continue remotely in the face of prohibitions due to the pandemic.
As of Friday evening/morning he was visiting his younger brother and mother in NC, having determined to stay there as long as it takes to minister to our mother as she is approaching her final days under hospice care. He told me all about the Scripture Readings, Prayers, Hymns, and good cheer spoken aloud at her bedside, and said he had not smiled so long and so hard in all his life.
I was with him Thursday morning when my family left NC for VA to visit elderly father-in-law. He prayed aloud for us as we were leaving. Among the last things we did together, besides reminisce as far back and forward as we could, was sing "Jesus, Thy Blood and Righteousness" and the "Te Deum" at Mom's bedside. I'm afraid the minor shift in the Te Deum had us both sounding poorly when it comes to intonation.
I will miss my brother more than words can say. Those of you who have lost dear ones know what it is like. LORD, have mercy!
Thank you for the prayers, words of encouragement, and anecdotes regarding my recently deceased brother. He it was, as well, who pointed me to FR as a wholesome source of news and commentary.
For the record, the cause of death is under investigation. He was afflicted with Fauci’s Chi-Com virus not long after it was launched and had complained of growing weaker sooner when walking. We siblings suspect a pulmonary embolism is part of the picture. No suicide or immediate foul play.
The LORD gave. The LORD takes away. Blessed be the Name of the LORD.
Oh my gosh Fester, I am SO sorry to read this. What a precious life your brother led and you’re testimony of his life. I’ll pray for comfort for you and your family that you know the Holy Spirit is with you.
why wouldn’t you know that Robert? Do you believe Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior? If so, you can be assured.

I am so very sorry about your brother’s passing. It sounds like you & Clyde had a very special bond. I know you are completely heartbroken.
Sending many prayers for your family and ((hugs)) for you. Be well FRiend.
I add my voice to those who have posted here. Cboldt was one of my very favorite Freepers, one upon whom one could rely for sound legal judgement and general knowledge. He will be sorely missed. God Bless.
Yes. I am not prefect, so therefore I remain humble. 🙂
just so you know, being humble is not being uncertain of your salvation. You must KNOW that you are saved and you do that by believing the Word of God that says ‘if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you will be saved’.
I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. May he rest in eternal peace. He will be missed.
May God take Cbolt home.
Thank you for describing him, a wonderful brother, father, husband and son. He was a great FReeper.
My condolences.
Very sorry about your loss. Your brother was a star here. Prayers up.
Wow, I loved Freepin’ around with Cboldt! He will be missed. Prayers for you and your other family members.
Eternal rest grant him O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
Prayers up for you and for his entire family, Fester.
RIP. Condolences to Cboldt’s family and friends.
Nobody has pinged Cboldt, so I will.
Hey bro. When I transition to the afterlife, come meet me and show me around. In the meantime, we will be missing you on Earth.
Oh, no. What a shock. I make it a point to ignore the poster’s identity and just read the posts, but his were so often so good that I would check out the handle. He was so bright and sharp. Every. Single. Time.
I gather there wasn’t a lot of suffering, so that is a comfort. So glad to hear he had a loving family and a good life.
May you all be blessed.
...
Condolences to you and your loved ones.
((hugs))
