A long-awaited study at the University of Minnesota has found that the controversial drug ivermectin is not effective at treating COVID-19.
The findings, published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, add to a growing body of scientific evidence pushing back against the use of the antiparasitic drug that has been promoted by some prominent voices on social media.
The U of M’s study focused on three common drugs: ivermectin, metformin, and fluvoxamine. Researchers determined that none of the drugs proved effective at preventing low oxygen levels, ER visits, hospitalization or death.
The study showed some promise for the diabetes drug metformin, but the data is not definitive.
“We’re just really grateful to be able to share our work broadly and to have been published in a medical journal,” said Dr. Carolyn Bramante, the lead researcher on the study.
The team’s study is now at least the third large-scale study on ivermectin released this year that found the drug is not effective in treating COVID-19.
5 INVESTIGATES started following the issue months ago, soon after fights to get the drug went from the hospital room to the courtroom.
Some patients filed lawsuits against hospitals and doctors that refused to prescribe the controversial drug.
“I’ve done a lot of research on it,” Kathy Huspek told 5 INVESTIGATES back in January for why she filed a lawsuit against St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood shortly after her husband Gerry was admitted to the ICU.
A judge refused to intervene, saying he cannot force a hospital to use a drug that is “not within the standard of care.”
Researchers at the U of M hope the new results help patients understand what actually works in treating COVID-19.
“The virus is changing. And so we need all the tools in the toolbox that we can get as we combat this virus,” Bramante said.
What a coincidence. The vaccine isn’t an effective treatment either....
Except that it DID work magnificently for me, my family, and a number of friends.

The last studies they did on this, the amount of Ivermectin given was not enough to be effective.
That was how they experts rigged the outcome.

Yeah, now try it during the early stages of COVID, when it works best. Also, combine it with vit d and zinc.
Well, at least this is a start. Would prefer some more peer-reviewed trials. I am still no-vax and taking vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc and courcetin daily.

ivermectin does nothing to covid; zinc lays waste to Covid.
Ivermectin is a zinc ionophore (as is hcq), it allows the zinc to cross the cell walls and interfere with covids (and other rna viruses) access to the mitochondria so it can’t reproduce.
Ivermectin is the gun, zinc is the bullet.
Studies using ivermectin alone are propaganda.
Funny..seemed to work just fine...in states in India.
Did they use it with zinc? That is how it works. We have cured over 30 people and who funded the study? big Pharma?
Without information about the funder of the study, its impossible to judge it’s credibility.

We’ve known ivermectin/hcq/etc with zinc work, and injected vaccines do not....and we’ve known this for decades.
The last studies they did on this, the amount of Ivermectin given was not enough to be effective.

They also omitted the C, D and Zink.
I think I will stick to the anecdotal evidence of me and 7 of my friends that it works extremely well when taken properly with zinc, D3, C, etc. Quercetin didnt hurt either.

The typical normal dose is 150 mcg, per kilogram of body weight. You can do the math here.
If they were doing 100-or-less of mcg per kilogram....then the effective nature is marginal.
I'm now 68, have had Type II for nearly ten years.
Last February, I caught Covid for the second time, this time it was bad. I lost 30 pounds in the week before I went to the doctor.
He prescribed for me a regimen of four prescriptions, to include IVM and HCQ. I was back at work, albeit still weak, the following Monday.
These attempts to downplay the success of IVM is disgusting.

I thought it was more antiviral and key to take in early stage of viral replication. HQC, or quercitin are the ionophors that carry zinc across cell membrane?
Certainly does nothing once one cannot breath.
