The man accused of stabbing author Salman Rushdie held a fake driver's license bearing the surname of an infamous Hezbollah commander, it has been claimed.
That driver's license, which was was found on 24-year-old Hadi Mater bore the name Hassan Mughniyah. Both the first and second names are linked to infamous terrorist organization Hezbollah. The group's current leader is named Hassan Nasrallah. While one of the group's most notorious figures was Imad Mughniyeh, who was killed in a CIA-linked assassination in Syria in 2008.
NBC New York reports that Mater's social media accounts showed that he was sympathetic to Shia causes, including supporting the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Since the 1980s, the IRGC have been linked to Hezbollah, offering training and funding to the primarily Lebanon-based terrorist organization. Hezbollah's logo is based on the IRGC's.
According to the Council on Foreign Relation's profile on Hezbollah: 'The Iran-backed group is driven by its opposition to Israel and its resistance to Western influence in the Middle East.'
Witnesses to the stabbing say that the suspect wore black clothing and a black mask during the attack on The Satanic Verses author in Buffalo on Friday.
Rushdie is on a ventilator, cannot speak, and will likely lose an eye, after being stabbed up to 15 times on Friday by a suspect police have identified as a man from New Jersey 'with sympathies toward the Iranian government.'
Authorities descended on the Fairview, New Jersey home of 24-year-old Hadi Matar hours after he allegedly attacked Rushdie onstage at a literary event in upstate New York.
The driver's license also included a reference to an address in West New York, New Jersey, less than three miles from his listed address in Fairview, New Jersey.

The first high-profile terror act linked to Mughniyeh was the 1983 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut that killed sixty-three people.
Yes I know and why anyone with the name “Mughniyeh” was allowed into this country in the first place is beyond me. I mean it’s not like a name like “Smith” or Jones”.
It’s like he comes to the boarder..what’s your last name? “Mughniyeh” Denied!
One would have thought that FBI ought to have shown some interest....but they were probably to occupied by some panty-raid to care.
Likely a real driver’s license with a fake name. They love giving out ID without proof to foreigners.
Where did he come from and how did he get here.
24. Means he was hatched in 1998, same year that Bill Clinton sent a missile into an empty tent in his dramatic “retaliation “for the US Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania and then called his war on terrorism quits.
He came from some Shiite hole country, said he was a terrorist, and was welcomed in with open arms. /S
What a jack ass. A total jack ass.
I wonder if that dip wad still believes that BS? Probably does. What a dip wad.
“Where did he come from and how did he get here.”
Answer coming around the same time as Ghislaine Maxwell’s client list, Hunter Biden’s indictment, etc.
Additionally; the security apparatus for Rushdie was apparently non-existent. Not a good idea when one has a fatwa on their heads. The jihadis appear to be very patient, and will strike when one's guard is down even if it means waiting 34 years for the opportunity.
I want to know his immigration status
Dumbfounded that you would invite Rushdie and not increase security
This happened in Chautauqua.
Rushdie had at least one NY State Trooper detailed to him.
I’m reminded of the recent assassination of Abe on Japan.
I’m not dumbfounded at all if our Deep State was doing someone else a solid.
Abe’s assassination seems very similar.
We are basking in the glow of diversity the left promised us 20 years ago.
He stabbed Rushdie 15 times and then had time to get away??? No security at all???
This is a classic example of why Jihad Islam believes it will win. The mantra is ‘If it takes 10,000 years and a billion lives we will prevail as it is the will of Allah ‘.
Obviously an example of Domestic Violent Extremism that the FBI has been warning would happen.
