So kind of like a land version of a diesel submarine. Surly they are talking about a plug-in vehicle in a war zone.
Seems like the military has forgotten that during a modern war the enemy will use EMPs to disable most electronics.
Military vehicles from tanks to trucks to humvees can be refueled anywhere, in minutes, by bringing up a fuel truck that also runs on diesel or gas.
Military EVs that go flat on or near a battlefield will be dead ducks.
And in cold weather it will be even much worse for EVs, while I.C.E. military vehicles will barely be affected.
This is suicidally stupid. They might as well plan tanks that run on unicorn farts.
Or a very loooong extension cord................................
Somethings are too stupid for words.
Arrrgh, “Surely they are NOT talking about a plug-in hybrid”
As one of my Navy Chiefs would say, “Let’s watch this sh!t for a minute to see what happens.”(Carl moment in 3,2,1)
What if an Abrams tank were able to fire only one round because the rest of the space for ammo was taken up with batteries?
By international agreements they’ll allow recharge breaks in battles!
Look at who is running our military these days.
We a really fooked.
I think that when you are slinging anything as massive as a tank around, you had better decide on your method of propulsion. Any kind of “hybrid” is carrying some amount of dead weight.
Sorta like a really big Prius.
The Ukraine war, which has to only a limited extent deployed the new technologies has demonstrated that large armored vehicles and naval surface combatants are obsolete death traps. Outfitting them with woke technologies just assures their crews are more likely to die. It will take a herculian effort to root out these vile commissars from the Pentagon once America has a decent, rational government.
Perhaps our soldiers are so demoralized by being forced to fight in dresses that they have lost the will to fight - so emp really doesn’t matter.
What coud go wrong?
Even after the engine was shut off, their still might be enough heat being given off for quite a time, though maybe it might not be enough for a missile or something like that to lock onto. Not sure about stuff like that. Other then it takes my car a good half hour or so after shutting it off before you can check the antifreeze level.
