Siberian ‘Ivan Tea’ is better than the additive-laden soda, the Russian president added

Russian President Vladimir Putin has derided Coca-Cola and suggested that ‘Ivan Tea’ – a medicinal brew made from Siberian fireweed – is a more “useful” refreshment. Coca-Cola pulled out of the Russian market in June over Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine.

Participating in the ‘Strong Ideas for New Times’ forum in Moscow on Wednesday, Putin was approached by Alexander Khlynov from the Union of Ivan Tea Producers, who proposed the government help boost production of the traditional Russian drink.

Putin agreed to bring Khlynov’s proposal to Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, and gave the tea his personal approval. “Indeed, it is certainly more useful than Coca-Cola,” he remarked, “which is all chemicals.”

As I recall, when some of the basic ingredients for Coca-Cola became scarce in WWII Germany, the chemists at Coke put together a new drink based on what they had on hand. Introducing: Fanta Orange Soda.

I found Mexican Coca-Cola at Big Lots, made with real sugar, tastes like the real thing from childhood.

The Mexican is way better. Also check out their saltine crackers named Saladitas. Just the way crackers were when I was a kid. I think they changed the premium saltine recipe somehow. The Mexicans do it right.

I quit Coke because it’s woke. But yeah, I’m probably saving my own health some grief, too.

My father worked in the soft-drink industry for over forty years. He wouldn’t drink a drop of any of it and none of the kids did either.

Had to have my kidney stones removed thru my back. Doctor asked if I drank soda and said I drank 3-4 Diet Cokes a day. Said to quit if I didn’t want to go threw with it. Haven’t had one since my surgery.

Carbonic Acid.

ALL carbonated soft drinks have carbonic acid in the liquid.

Loves Park ...sounds like a lovely place.

Founded by businessman Malcolm Love just north of Rockford, IL. It's in better shape than Rockford, but is not particularly upscale.

Of the top ten corporate “brands” in Russia, six are state-owned, two are privately-owned oil & gas companies, and two privately-owned grocery store chains. In other words, Russia doesn’t have many consumer brands. It is a commodity-producing country. Its economy is dominated by state enterprises and oligarchs, and corrupton. There is little entreprenuership, It’s all top-down.

As long as we keep our defenses strong, we will outlast them. We beat them in Cold War I with bluejeans androck ‘n roll, and we will beat them in Cold War II the same way.
