A woman having an incomplete miscarriage was refused help by doctors at her local emergency room as they felt they had to enforce Wisconsin's 1849 ban on abortions.
The unidentified woman bled for ten days after staff refused to remove the fetal tissue from her uterus.
They reportedly feared they would be in violation of the 170-year-old law, which came back into effect after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade.
Carley Zeal, a gynecologist at Mercyhealth Cancer Center in southern Wisconsin, gave her medication to expel the fetal tissue.
Because the medicine needed to end a miscarriage is similar to that used to end a pregnancy, doctors have said they are unsure whether to hand it out post-Roe.
Zeal told the Washington Post: 'It really delayed her care.

Massive lawsuit in the making.
Let’s say this story is true and let’s say all the stories about rape and incest are all true .
If we allowed abortions for those cases we would still eliminate 95% of all abortions in this country . Would Pro-choicers be happy with that ?
“If the “fetal tissue” is dead, how can it be a matter of a ban on abortion?”
Simple: IT CAN’T. Story is utter BS.
“Massive lawsuit in the making.”
Yes absolutely massive lawsuit this kind of willful malpractice is in violation of at least two Federal laws. For all the people calling BS they are irrelevant when not if this goes to litigation during the discovery process all the medical records and every action or lack of action by the staff will be fully available to the attorney’s the public will never see it due to HIPAA but it is irrelevant what the public thinks or sees. When proven that care was denied the payout will be in the millions and rightfully so. They risk this woman’s life and future fertility both are worth millions in civil judgment. The key fact would be did this person have a natural miscarriage? Then did the hospital deny the medically and federally mandated emergency medical procedure to address that natural miscarriage. Ultrasound in 3/4D will confirm a miscarriage with 100% reliability past 8 weeks or so. No heart beat no life left. If the hospital denied the D&C with a confirmed natural miscarriage whew she is getting PAID as is her attorney’s. All of this will be found out for a fact in discovery process. It likely won’t end up in litigation the hospital will.want to settle cheap for a few million vs having a civil hurt make an example out of them with a 100+ million judgment which is easy to.justify given the risk life and future reproductive success.
Are you freaking kidding me? This is *not* an abortion!
Medical neglect, imho.
Retarded. The smear rarely affects the sufferer. Just one more sad kick in the face of parents who may spend decades caring for their severely handicapped child.
Its an easy drive from southern Wisconsin to Democrat subjugated Illinois where a a therapeutic abortion to remove the body of a child lost in a sponateous abortion. Masonic hospital in Chicago probably still does them.
