Park officials said bison are wild and unpredictable, as recent incidents show.
For the second time in three days, a visitor to Yellowstone National Park has been gored by a bison.
Park officials say a 71-year-old woman from West Chester, Pennsylvania, and her daughter inadvertently approached the bison Wednesday as they were returning to their vehicle at a Yellowstone Lake trailhead.
The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Cody, Wyoming.
The incident remains under investigation.
On Monday, a 34-year-old Colorado man got too close to a bison and was thrown as he grabbed a child. An Ohio woman was gored in May.
Park officials said bison are wild and unpredictable, and visitors should stay more than 25 yards away.
What’s the difference between a bison and a buffalo?
A Bison lives in Yellowstone, and a Buffalo can’t win a Super Bowl.
I wish someone would ask these people who they voted for.
I just have a feeling...
So much for situational awareness.
Sigh.
Go Bisons!
LOL. Outstanding comeback
We’re going to have to ban bison, or at least have “common sense” bison control!
“Bison” is the term used by envirowackos to make them appear superior to MAGA rubes who use the term “Buffalo”.
It’s clear that people from East of the Mississippi should stay away from bison.
Stupid white liberal thinks nature loves them.
Bison are the western version of Alligator.
I blame Disney..........................
Woman is mauled by polar bear after jumping into Berlin Zoo enclosure
Many people don’t know it but there were European Bison, still in the wild, up until the early 20th century. Smaller than their American cousins, but just as dangerous........................
From the NPS website for Yellowstone...
“Never approach animals or block traffic to view them. The animals in Yellowstone are wild and unpredictable, no matter how calm they appear to be. Always stay at least 100 yards (91 m) away from bears and wolves, and at least 25 yards (23 m) away from all other animals, including bison and elk. Read more about safety in bear country and learn about bear spray, a highly effective, non-lethal bear deterrent.”
I know how people often say that the “American buffalo” are really bison.
Then again, isn’t there a baseball team, the “Buffalo Bisons”???
COMMON SENSE BISON CONTROL..................
Obviously none of these people have ever had to ear tag a new born calf with mama cow in hot pursuit. The stupidity of many people is astounding.
