From the NPS website for Yellowstone...
“Never approach animals or block traffic to view them. The animals in Yellowstone are wild and unpredictable, no matter how calm they appear to be. Always stay at least 100 yards (91 m) away from bears and wolves, and at least 25 yards (23 m) away from all other animals, including bison and elk. Read more about safety in bear country and learn about bear spray, a highly effective, non-lethal bear deterrent.”
LOL, we stayed quiet, though I rolled down my window for a clearer video as he meandered on by. I'd say he was 4-6 feet from my car. Of course, it was huge.
My then 6YO grandson only moments before, called out from the back, "I'm bored!!!" Shortly after the bison moved past us, I heard him say, "Opa, I'm not bored anymore." lol
Not sure the last 2 GEN can understand either yards or meters... you may need to translate that into feet.. or better yet, the distance from their front door to the next uneducated non-cis’s house.. :P
