The pot we smoked in the 70s and 80s is nowhere near as potent as it is today. People are finding out the hard way that there are toxic levels of THC.

I might entertain that view.

However I think there is more evidence that Politicians and lettered agencies cause 75% of all Psychosis and Schizophrenia in Men

(I have no idea what may cause it in Women)

Paywall. No link to study, which is what I want.

Israelis started studying it back in the ‘60’s. The rest of the West has barely started in comparison.

“How much did they pay you to be in this study, Cheech?

“Who? What? Pay? Cheech?

That doesn't make any sense at all. Really. Actually and literally none. It clearly doesn't respond to my post.

I responded to yours. I didn't write mystery-oso stuff.

“Pot causes psychosis. The degree of psychosis depends on how much is smoked and the make-up of the person smoking”

Since this is a study about men, I might wonder about the make-up too. I think that itself used to be listed in the DSM under mental illness

Looks like countries with the strictest pot laws have some of the highest rates of schizophrenia. The countries with lax laws are among the lowest. For example, the US ranks 182 out of 192, while Singapore is #8.

there is a way to get around the weed law for THC

i have no idea how it compares but Delta-9 thc is legal because of a Farm Bill

I have considered trying edibles to see how it effects pain but then decided there is no regulation and I might get bunch of pesticides

The pot we smoked in the 70s and 80s is nowhere near as potent as it is today.

I'm out of the loop these days, but I remember in the 70s and 80s it was plenty strong enough to do what people wanted it to do. Didn't seem to need much improvement.

As you say, it's much stronger now, and I don't see the reason for this. It's like alcohol prohibition in the 1920s -- no beer, no wine, no gin. Then the country changed their mind and said alcohol could be legal -- but they didn't suddenly ONLY sell 200 proof Everclear grain alcohol. There was no need to go as hard as humanly possible in 1933. But for some reason, we legalized cannabis (in some states) and now it's 200 times as strong as it used to be. That's just weird.

This sounds like legal prep work to influence jurors who will sit on future marijuana lawsuits.

California may require labels on pot products to warn of mental health risks
June 17, 2022 5:00 AM ET
Heard on Morning Edition, APRIL DEMBOSKY, FROM KQED

Californians voted to legalize recreational pot in 2016. Three years later, emergency room visits for cannabis-induced psychosis went up 54% across the state, from 682 to 1,053, according to state hospital data.

For people who already have a psychotic disorder, cannabis makes things worse — leading to more ER visits, more hospitalizations and more legal troubles, says Dr. Deepak Cyril D’Souza, a psychiatry professor at Yale University School of Medicine who also serves on the physicians’ advisory board for Connecticut’s medical marijuana program.

Daily Marijuana Use And Highly Potent Weed Linked To Psychosis:

But D’Souza faces great difficulty convincing his patients of the dangers, especially as 19 states and the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana.

“Both my patients with schizophrenia, and also adolescents, hear very conflicting messages that it’s legal; in fact, there may be medical uses for it,” he says. “If there are medical uses, how can we say there’s anything wrong with it?”

Legalization is not the problem, he says, but rather it’s the commercialization of cannabis — the heavy marketing, which can be geared toward attracting young people to become customers for life, and the increase in THC from 4% on average up to between 20% and 35% in today’s varieties.

I am truly saddened to read foolishness such as this.   It is much more likely that schizophrenics are drawn to self-medicate with marijuana.   I know it is easier to put the cart before the horse when you are educated with confirmation bias, but an intelligent individual would use some reason.   That's what it's for.

On second thought it is common knowledge that a number of psychologists and psychiatrists are drawn to those fields in a desperate attempt to understand their own trauma, phobia and other mental health issues.

My own late brother was a classic case of a psychology major attempting to understand himself.   The sad result was the destruction of three marriages and living his last days as a touched in the head hermit living in squalor in a condemned cinder block shack.   But no, he didn't ever smoke marijuana.   Come to think of maybe he should have.

This is interesting. Israel has the highest use of mj in the world according to statisa.com =>

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1015296/rate-of-cannabis-use-worldwide-country/

This says Israel ranks low (#166 out of 192 countries) in the rate of schizophrenia =>
