The evidence reviewed by the committee suggests that cannabis use is likely to increase the risk of developing schizophrenia, other psychoses, and social anxiety disorders, and to a lesser extent depression. Alternatively, in individuals with schizophrenia and other psychoses, a history of cannabis use may be linked to better performance on learning and memory tasks. Heavy cannabis users are more likely to report thoughts of suicide than non-users, and in individuals with bipolar disorder, near-daily cannabis users show increased symptoms of the disorder than non-users.”
They went from “suggests is likely” to “does” modifiers.
They do not cite the source they rely on.
I know 100s of folks who smoke weed regularly like many here drink and who celebrate their booze
None are schizophrenic that I know of

Before Covid came along his book about pot was his first excursion into the world of post hoc ergo propter hoc reasoning.
His bad logic doesn’t mean that there is no link between pot and schizophrenia, it just means that his fallacious reasoning doesn’t advance the argument. For what it’s worth I suspect that there is a connection but opinions aren’t the same as proof.
There are probably journalists who try to make sure that they know what they are talking about. Berenson isn’t one of them.
Awhile ago he was arguing that the covid vaccines are creating the variants. A few minutes of research would have show him that there were already 5 variants circulating before any vaccines had ever been released. And more than that he would have discovered that RNA viruses are the kings of transcription error which results in constant mutation.
