Shark investor Mark Cuban has made plenty of waves over the course of his multibillion-dollar career, but most recently he's launched a successful excursion into the generic drug trade:
Mark Cuban aims to lower prescription drug prices with online pharmacy People searching for cheaper alternatives to high priced prescription drugs have a new and perhaps unexpected option. His new direct-to-consumer company, Cost Plus Drugs, offers more than 100 generic medications at discounted prices. He joins Geoff Bennett to discuss. WWW.PBS.ORG

Is he having success? You'd better believe it—it's been such a success that it's making the federal government look like a total putz:

The United States government could save billions of healthcare dollars if it purchased generic drugs at the prices offered by Mark Cuban's new online pharmacy that was launched this year.
In a comparison between Medicare's spending in 2020 and the prices of Cuban's Cost Plus Drug Company, researchers found that Medicare could have saved $3.6 billion, according to new research from Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School published Monday in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Hussain Saleem Lalani, a researcher at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and the study's lead author, said that the study "does show that Medicare is overpaying for some of the generic drugs."
"This is a conservative estimate, so the actual savings are likely higher," Lalani added.
The federal government to Mark Cuban right now:
Meanwhile, people haven't been shy about celebrating the amount of money they're saving by opting for Cost Plus instead of a traditional pharmacy:
does he sell ivermectin?
i dont see any one has posted the url to his site ?
Just checked and no, he doesn’t. Not surprising.
Its good if the generics are high quality. Sometimes people run into problems with generics - they are not always identical to the brand drugs they compete against.
stupid site
won’t even let you look for a Rx without red tape first
If I was in the navy on shore liberty in Bangkok, I would not buy a box of condoms from this China b!tchboy.
No. I just checked.
Did you look under “medications”? I see lots of drugs.
After all, we either pay their price...or die.
They can be a legalized monopoly thanks to Congress. Congress made it legal for a drug company to PAY another drug company to not manufacture a drug thereby reducing competition.
Ummm one must have morals and a sense of shame to feel embarrassment. You must have the federal govt confused with someone else.
Will the idiot Cuban now be cancelled as well?
Huh? What red tape? I was able to look for the two Rx we take, and they offer both. It says to find the med first and then contact your doctor so you can fill the prescription through this website. Seems simple enough. Am I missing something?
I looked at his prices for the type of hypertension medication I use. It’s even cheaper than the co-pay price I get from Kaiser Permanente, about 50% less! 😲 It makes you wonder how much of a ripoff the pharmacy benefit management companies like Express Scripts, CVS Health and UnitedHealth really are. 💊💸😒😑🙄
I guess to expect a simple search button or option is too much. I will go elsewhere.
“It says to find the med first and then contact your doctor so you can fill the prescription through this website. Seems simple enough. Am I missing something?”
You’re missing the fact that the usual gang of maroons show up and start bad mouthing anything remotely positive. I would say ask for proof that this is a scam or just a publicity stunt, but “proof, we don’ need no stinkin’ proof” is the rule for some folks.
The feds will shut him down post haste to capitulate with Big Pharma. They hated President Trump and we all know what they did to him for trying to lower medical drug prices.
Was just thinking the same damn thing! lulz
