GOP Michigan gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley was arrested Thursday morning on misdemeanor charges related to his involvement in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, according to the Justice Department.
Kelley, 40, of Allendale, Michigan, was arrested in Allendale on charges "stemming from the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol breach," according to Bill Miller, a spokesman for the US attorney's office in the District of Columbia. Kelley was released on bond later Thursday, after making his initial appearance in federal court in Michigan. He greeted his supporters outside the courthouse after his release, giving thumbs up and hugs, according to local reporters on the scene.
The Detroit FBI field office confirmed Kelley's arrest and said his home had been searched on Thursday morning.
"I can confirm FBI agents from Grand Rapids office executed an arrest and search warrant at Mr. Kelley's residence in Allendale, MI. At this time, I cannot provide any information on the nature of the charges against Mr. Kelley," said Mara Schneider, a public affairs officer with the FBI's Detroit's office, in a written statement, adding that she expected additional information to be "forthcoming."

Hey, this is exactly what the Left is aiming for. They are desperately frightened of Trump, to the point they are pursuing any avenue to prevent him from running. Legal action to tar him, every rule they can think of they might be able to get some judge to twist around to keep him off the ballot.
Of course, we have plenty of weak minded people right here on FR who want to split the party, weaken it further, and they buy right into the poison the Left (inclusive of the DOJ and FBI) is selling.
We have our own cowards who would desert an innocent man who was and is persecuted by the same tactics, which is great for the Left. That works for them. They can see it works, so they will keep doing it. Trump made too many "errors" of this nature, beginning with Sessions and ending with Barr.
He also should have fired all of the Obama holdovers in the WH bureaucracy. They worked 24/7 to subvert him with endless leaks. The Clintons fired everyone from W's term when they took over. Trump should have done the same.
Maybe if Trump had spent less time tweeting and more time doing due-diligence on the people he was considering hiring, he wouldn’t have saddled us with so many awful officials.
