GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - As the 100 deadly days of summer moves forward, we wanted to take a look at how one recently passed state law is affecting drivers.
The ‘move right’ law, or as many call it the ‘slowpoke’ law.
“If you are traveling on a controlled access highway, you should stay out of the left hand lane unless you are passing or overtaking a car,” said Corporal Joe Hovis, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

I’d like to see an IQ test for driving (and voting, and drinking, and having kids,......)
Washington plates and Oriental drivers give me a cold chill.
There is a phrase we used to use in Washington state: DWA - Driving while Asian.
I actually got on talk radio in Seattle about 14 years ago when the subject was bad drivers. I got the first sentence out. When I finished the last part I heard a “click” and I was off the air.🤣
The funny part is that I was told about it by an Asian friend. And the specific culprits were middle aged Asian women.
> So the lane is supposed to be empty except for passing?
Nah, just get out of the way expeditiously.
> So if one overtake a line of slower trucks that are in the right lane but it takes 2 minutes to get past them while driving the speed limit
Hah! Trucks driving the speed limit ;-)
I can live with that more than the jerks who pass you then pull in front and go slower than you were going.
I once saw her get a ride from an Oriental friend. She had a license plate frame that said “DWO...Driving While Oriental” Had to laugh.
When I was younger in LA we could always predict when we were behind a middle aged Chinese. 20mph in the 35mph zone in a large Chevy or Buick. It seldom failed.
Now the younger Japanese drivers went like bats out of hell.
I once got hooked u in a Wolf Pack that was pretty cool. The speed limit was 55 or 65. Many of us were together for over 200 miles doing 90-100mph. We made holes for each other to keep the pack tight. It was a very fun drive.

For me its seeing a vehicle with Florida tags being driven through a snow storm. HOPEFULLY the driver is a snowbird who knows what is going on.
NYC is a different situation given the the bike lanes, double-parkers, covid dining huts, etc. In the suburban cities and towns where I live, stop lights, stop signs, turn signals, speed limits, etc. are now voluntary because the attorney general has instructed LEO not to enforce the V&T laws. Why? Because enforcement of the laws increases the risk of confrontations that could escalate and offend certain segments of the population.
You beat me to it. Zippering works great except for the idiots who insist on waiting till their bumpers are touching the barrels to think about moving in.
One time I was in heavy traffic with two miles notice we were losing a lane. Everyone zippered and we barely slowed.
What a dumb question.
If it takes you a whole TWO MINUTES to pass someone, you have no good reason to pass.
Just stay in one of the slower lanes where you belong.... instead of becomimg a road hazzard, and a pain in everyone’s ass.

This happened to me on I-94 in eastern Montana about 17 years ago, westbound. I was in my 2001 Chrysler 300M with a 142 mph governor. I went through that routine with a couple of guys with Minnesota plates passing multiple semis. finally they tried to block both lanes together at 55. I came at them at about 80 and passed on the shoulder without a problem. They followed me for 30-40 miles. I’d hit my governor speed, lose them, and drop to 90. They would eventually catch up with me. I did that three or four times and finally lost them and just pulled into a town. Neve saw them again.
Now THAT is the kind of wolf pack I like!
Exactly!
Thank you.
Glad I live in Florida, where the speed limits coincide with modern cars/driving and dawdling in the left lane is, literally, against the law.
One thing I love about rural Kentucky is stop signs are really yield signs.
On a three lane road, if you block the left lane, i will tailgate you. Many just dig in by not varying their speed becaus they think they a a cop enforcing the rules of the road. Whether i have to pass you on the right or if you move over, I will accelerate to 100 mph. So pull me over then. Once I do that, I am nowhere near the morons that are creating an extreme danger by blocking traffic. Accidents happen when you hit something near, not when you are at high speed with nothing near. You hate me for hitting that speed? I don't care.
In my view and experience, it’s the 18-wheelers generally not following their posted speed limits which causes the vast majority of traffic clogs. When you have reckless truck drivers swerving and weaving through already heavy traffic, and then impatiently, but slowly passing other trucks, this is the root source of congestion.
