How disingenuous. The state of California has had an unprecedented exodus of its population for a variety of reason over the last several years. Where do large segments of these folks go? Florida and Texas...lol.

And when Sweden’s covid & death rates remained low even though they didn’t lock down, were we allowed to compare them with New York? Of course not.

Criminals can’t afford the taxes in CA.
They are moving to FL and TX like everyone else.

What examples do they have of a gun control law effecting this?

And did the deaths still occur, just using a different method?

Without this information, this article is just hot air.

The left is so fond of gaslighting and lying, that I would need to examine their figures quite closely. I would need to understand the source and any possible bias that source would bring. I would need to see if there are unaccounted factors such as population loss. I would need to see the figures of violent crimes perpetrated by criminals who might fear armed citizens less.

Interesting how they picked 2005 as a “baseline”.

Was that a high point in CA with current per capita rates 10% less than that?

And are the TX and FL per capita rates increasing from a much lower rate? E.g. say CA drops from 100 per 1000 to 90, while TX increased from 20 per 1000 to 25.

Statistics, damn statistics, and lies.

Always need source info.

The rate of murder in California is 0.04 per 1,000 residents during a standard year.

In Texas is’s .05 per 1000.

Source crimegrade.org

There are many factors. Age of population. Gang activity.

But yeah Texas had a lower murder rate so

Because robberies in gun shops and pawn shops where employees open carry are so common.

The article uses the same sort of logic that one would use in arguing against having insulin in your home because that could cause diabetes, as homes that have such a thing in them very likely have diabetics.

They are also likely adding in hunting or shooting related accidents and justifiable homicides by citizens and law enforcement in order to have Montana having a higher gun death rate than California, New Jersey, or New York and that would make the article’s premise even more dishonest and fraudulent.

In addition, you could also take Florida’s and Texas’ numbers and remove black on black homicides and that alone would probably reduce them to that certain extent.

Since the LA Slimes is so obsessed with statistics, how does the gun death rate in big liberal cities like LA, New York, Chicago compare to places like Wyoming?

And why, exactly, should anyone believe anything that comes from “official government” sources in California?

California’s lockdowns were far more stringent than Texas. It’s damn near impossible to kill a homie in a drive by shooting when he’s locked inside his crib, kill somebody in a robbery when nobody is in the street, or have a school shooting when schools are closed.

How disingenuous.

Wrong! California no longer counts gun crimes. If a gun is used in a robbery, the gun is not mentioned. This has been going on for several decades.

BAN GUNS. Let mass killers use machetes, flame throwers, knives, cars, trucks, bombs, poison, planes, electrocution, tyranny, or fire instead.

BTW, speaking of tyranny, if the left is so against mass murder why do they support communism? Communism is responsible for the largest mass murder of human beings in history.

I just asked this of AOC........

The FBI and some Democrat Cities have been known to cook the books on violent crime statistics. Atlanta got caught at this big time a couple of decades ago. They reclassified types of crimes (IMO, with the FBI’s silence).

Not sure I'd base gun control laws on stuff like this. Although Utah, Idaho and Wyoming are doing pretty good. Demographics, law enforcement policies, how statistics are collected...it is tough. Here in Arizona, there is a LOT of violence - within a 2 mile wide corridor following I-19 to Tucson and I-10 from Tucson to west Phoenix. That's due to the flow of drugs. Outside that corridor is pretty safe.
