When ordinary citizens are elevated by other ordinary citizens, placed on pedestals, and are paid huge sums for nothing but acting, the former will eventually dictate lifestyles and activities to the latter. Rule - never give dime of hard-earned money to those who pretend to be someone else, even if they are entertaining.

Babies used to use wet nurses if available. Otherwise they died.

That “push” is a bit hit or miss.
Thirty five years ago the doctors were extolling the superiority of formula. My wife and I were expecting twins and the doctors and nurses used that as an added reason we should use formula.
Fortunately my wife said screw it and breast fed. No formula to buy, bottles to clean and on and on. My wife loved the experience of feeding her children the way God intended, the boys grew like weeds and I....well...nuff said.
I think the reticence to breastfeeding now is societal in nature. For probably three generations women were told that breastfeeding was the “old” way of doing things. Society had evolved beyond that. Any woman still breastfeeding was an uneducated hillbilly or trailer park trash.
There are at least two generations of women who bought into that hook, line and sinker. It’s going to take time to reeducate the masses.
Like, what did mothers do before baby formula was invented? Let their babies starve?

In 1945 for whatever reason, I rejected breast milk so my mom put me on goat’s milk and I quickly began to thrive.
There definitely used to be -- the thinking was that we are so smart we can artificially make a better milk than mother's. Then they found out that formula-fed babies were consistently a few IQ points lower than breast-fed babies. Part of it was actual missing nutrients in formula, but there is also an aspect of physical skin to skin touch that is beneficial to infant development.
There is a real need for a few women to supplement, but it is actually kind of rare. Most use of formula is for vanity reasons. Either mom is dumping baby off as soon as possible to get back to work or thinks breast feeding is going to harm her bikini body.
“Strong delusion” is an appropriate biblical term.
Bette Midler doesn’t understand some women are on meds now those she know a lot about.
Thank God that doesn't happen anymore because the big-government/big-corporate criminal complex is here to protect us from it.
Even when the mother stays home full-time, it can be tough - for many women (though not for all). Some screaming, hungry babies stay latched all day long. Some other babies would prefer to sleep and starve. I had both types, but I was committed to making it work. IIRC, I nursed the first one for 6 months, the second for 8 months, and the third for a year.
Women who formula-fed sometimes would refer to those of us who nursed as lazy. I would tell them, believe me, mixing formula and pouring it into a bottle would be far easier for me.

I read that most millennial women have chosen to formula-feed. They might nurse the first couple of months but then switch to formula. They probably didn’t expect a shortage. Most millennials vote Dem, so one would think the Dem voters are learning a hard lesson right now, but, no, they’ll most likely remain as clueless as ever.
