The way a protestant America always argues with scriptures traditionally (sometimes to perceive them better, sometimes in liberal barbarian ways of self manipulation) is in the heart of these country songs that duel each other , from the song saying how old and bad I look naked now to this “except when drunk “ song etc.
Reminds me of Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn type mood stories.
