Animal rescuers in Massachusetts said a family who rescued a "lost puppy" found on a busy road were shocked to learn the animal was actually a baby coyote.
The Cape Wildlife Center in Cape Cod said in a Facebook post that a family spotted the small canine wandering alone at the side of a busy road.
The family took the animal home when they "mistakenly identified him as a lost puppy," the post said.
Family members soon started to suspect the "puppy" was actually a wild animal and contacted the Cape Wildlife Center, which confirmed the canine was an Eastern coyote pup.
The wildlife center said the pup tested negative for rabies and will now be raised alongside another orphaned coyote pup until the animals are old enough to be safely released back into the wild.
that photo looks like he'd rather not be released back into the wild.
I’d have kept it and kept my mouth shut. Just sayin.
Nice doggie!
LOL! “Go where, you say?”
We were at a rest stop park and a family had a fox with a harness on. Cute as all get out. The fox seemed happy.
If While E. Coyote had a son?
Me too!
Cute little feller.
did they see those ears?
Yah I think that he prefers three hots and a cot to scrambling to survive out in the wild.🤔

Many years ago, my kids brought home a puppy that they found. At the time, (early 80’s) New Mexico had a law on the books preventing vets from treating “hybrid dogs “. The vet was a family friend of ours. He asked Justin, my oldest “what’s your dogs name?” Justin answered “her name is Lobo”. He then asked “what breed is Lobo?. Justin answered “she’s a Shepherd mix”. Dr Brown said “we’ll go with that..” Turns out that she was mostly coyote.
She was the sweetest dog we ever owned.
Cute little fluff
Right after packages from Acme showed up every day for two weeks.
I had neighbors who had a coyote they raised from a pup.
Almost cat-like. With three people sitting on a long couch, it could go from the left of one of them to the right of the farthest without barely touching anyone. Very delicate feet, beautiful hair, always alert.
"Come snuggle with Mama"
I’d keep him. He’s a cute little bugger.
So what if he’s a coyote.
He self identifies as a dog!
I was wading in the ocean when I saw a fish in distress.
I took it home and put it in the bathtub.
Turned out to be a Killer Whale.
Cute little guy, but he ate the plumber.
