I helped develop the business end of DECnet, utilizing the RS 2780(?) family of boards in 1982.
Slide it in, pop-out the flimsy phone jack, connect to the 7200baud modem and start dialing.
Thrilling days, bruh.

Straw man argument. The coding to change the behavior of keyword adding
to remove their potential for anonymous harassment, while preserving their
complete functionality, could hardly be more trivial.KEEPING it as is, to preserve the anonymous harassment potential, is also easy,
but it does have a cost, and sends a clear message.*
'Managing non-essentials' entails so much more than HTML coding.
Prioritizing tasks based on the number of persons served providing the most good and weighing the various needs for benefit/cost analysis must also happen.
Given FR has functioned since the 80's and continues to function well, I don't know how or why the keywords suddenly became a make-or-break issue for some. In the past 4 1/2 years that I've been posting Q threads nothing changed, and suddenly the presence of rude keywords are now intolerable?
Here's the keywords posted on my thread from 1/20/2018. Note the keyword "spamsonnote" failed to repress or harass me for the 4+ years it's been there. I usually don't even look at the key words, and if I do, I still post what I want to share. Keywords don't silence free speech.

I'm with Melian on this - I think the flak we take is a badge of honor. Furthermore, we ignore the flak and keep posting because 'nothing can stop what's coming'.
Sometimes if I get irritated with the constant barrage of ridicule (direct at me or keywords), I make it a point to just go post more truth my detractors hate.
I'll never attempt to drive a website the size of FR, but if I did I couldn't put 'keyword harassment' at the top of my prioritized list, not while pressing for free speech at the same time.
I am not among those receiving the 'clear message' you perceive. I think different platforms attract and maintain different clientele. Some audiences overlap. Viva la difference!
note her left had is mimicking the baphomet statue positioning
Relax,it is not worth it for your health.

It hasn’t and what’s more, neither has the internet
Free Republic has changed greatly from an important activist force to a prelude of Twitter
Yeah I meant ‘98 and typed ‘80s. The ability to edit posts after clicking ‘send’ would be on my Christmas list, if I had one. :D
Like a BOSS!
Finland's proper response should have echoed that of General Sir Charles Napier, commander-in-chief of British forces in India, in regards to the Hindu practice of sati:
"This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property."
Instead, they folded. Cowards.
Alito draft SCOTUS opinion on Roe (98 pages)

OMW! That is perfect!
Is this a boon to \The Plan\?
If anti-SCOTUS violence gets hot (as this leak was intended to do, because racist), will we need some “military intervention” in the “large urban heat-sinks” to quell it?
[Side note: Are patriots willing to give-up Portland and Seattle?]
If the SCOTUS decision is changed because of the violence, would we now see the courts declared non-functional and justice being meted out by Courts, martial?
[Side note: Do ‘We the People’ have to request this/both?]
Does the virulent left really want to go there?
