A faculty job posting at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, says only applications from people who identify as "women, transgender, non-binary, or two-spirit" will be given due consideration.
The position was first advertised on March 21 and is for a tenure-track assistant professor of environment who will also be a research chair for "Climate Change, Water or Future Cities."
"This call is open only to qualified individuals who self-identify as women, transgender, non-binary, or two-spirit," the job posting said. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in "geography, earth and/or environmental science and sustainability, planning or a related discipline."
The posting says the "selection process" for the job follows "the provisions for a special program as described by the Ontario Human Rights Commission in order to address the under representation of individuals from equity deserving groups among our Canada Research Chairs."

If the rule is good for you, then all other jobs not listed as exclusively for “women, transgender, non-binary, or two-spirit” applicants must now preclude them.
Two spirit is a term used to describe a man assuming female social roles or a female assuming male social roles. A male seamstress, cook, caregiver, home maker, etc are considered two-spirit. A female hunter, warrior, tribal leader is two-spirited.
By this logic any man may apply for the position as a two-spirit applicant since it has been defined as a female position.

The degree is losing its value.
Only in US Federal government (always a decade behind), is it still the end all.
Dropping standards: degrees neither mean a kid can think nor posses any of the skills required.
Worthless degrees/majors: more and more liberal arts degrees that have no practical application anywhere. A degree for the sake of having a degree for an urban yuppie kid that is expected to get a degree but neither has an interest nor any special talent.
Massive supply: near 1/2 of adult Americans have about 2 years of college. 1/3 have a bachelors. ~ 1/7 have a masters. So 1/2 of all Americans have jobs that require academic training? Really? We already have FAR more degrees than there are real positions only we have a mismatch, i.e. not enough people get the real degrees (engineering, medicine...) and a lot get degrees in gender and womyns studies, history (another school teacher), kenesiology...
The trades are no place for degrees: For years colleges and universities have been getting into the business of training people for what are “trades.” Jobs you do with your hands, like a car mechanic, airplane mechanic, nurse, fireman, law enforcement. These are things that require muscle memory, experience, working the job and physically doing it, not learning about it in a class with a textbook. Colleges and universities are actually horrible venues to learn these trades well.
I believe the whole “two-spirit” thing is supposedly attributed to indigenous people/Native ‘Murican types.
Never had a child, myself, but if I had, he would have never got a dime for college unless he was going into a field that required a degree.
Trade school, maybe, but not a bigbox college.

So you see comrades, that we are incredibly diverse in our hiring by simply excluding people? You understand, comrades? ….Why look, right there is the ministry of justice! It is there where we enf… endure to create a fair and equitable society. Forward!
How is that legal? You certainly can’t advertise a position available to white males only.
