A Massachusetts native living in Montana was killed last week in a suspected encounter with a grizzly bear north of Yellowstone National Park, officials said.
The victim was identified as Craig Clouatre, 40, of Livingston, Mont., authorities there said Friday. Clouatre had grown up in West Brookfield, according to a Facebook page set up in his name.
SNIP
Search teams on the ground and in helicopters had been looking for Clouatre after he went hiking on Wednesday morning with a friend, possibly to hunt for antlers, and was reported overdue that day, according to the Park County sheriff. The search began that night concentrated on the Six Mile Creek area of the Absaroka Mountains, located about 30 miles south of Livingston.

Could only imagine how hungry and mean a grizzly bear must be coming out of hibernation.
This is why you always hike together with a friend and never split up. You also make sure that you can run faster than your friend ...
City people, always carry a sidearm in bear country. Actually it's a good idea to carry a sidearm ANYWHERE out in the woods. If you don't have one or don't know how to use one, don't go. Stay home and go to the symphony or something.
(Lame joke about essence of pepper and little dingle bells that was first heard in about 1996, omitted out of respect for the deceased.)
Who was the guy who lived with the Grizzles and was eaten by them ?
He should have had this woman with him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU5cMZymSr0
Name was Timothy Treadwell.
That would be Timothy Treadwell.
Karelian Bear Dog…
Don’t go in bear country without one, and a large caliber gun.
Yep, that’s him. Had a long history of living amongst the grizzlies but it only takes one F-up...adios, T.T.
Tough way to go. I spent a good bit of my childhood in East Brookfield
So did they issue a warrant for Mr Grizzly Bear yet?
Or are they just smearing him without real evidence?
Is he an associate of Putin?
Enquiring minds want to know
Bears have VERY acute sense of smell and well.. That WOMAN SCENT thing didn't go over very well with his bears.
Has anyone talked about this? I think this is what the bears freaked out about..
Also, ANYONE who goes into bear country WITHOUT PACKING some serious HEAT is a clueless tree hugger! POTS AND PANS MAY NOT DO THE TRICK.
"...But not from the inside of a bear!"
Guess he’ll never be a dental floss tycoon.
“City people, always carry a sidearm in bear country.”
Shut up!! Don’t give them any constructive ideas.
