I've been watching the fixer upper shows, and I don't get the hatred of "popcorn ceilings".
If it is that old, there is no scraping; you gut the place. Safety protocols in place.
These days, the popcorn is little balls of pearlite or something.
The reason the popcorn ceiling was conceptualized was for acoustics. Ever been in an old house with high ceilings? Reverb. Popcorn was supposed subdue reverb and echo. It does, but only until it gets painted. Then its worthless.
Architectural Digest = Architectural Porn
Architectual Record or Global Architecture are much more tasteful and productive.
Wasn’t so much for high ceilings, as much as for large span, low ceiling rooms. Remember the 70’s. Seemingly 6’8”-7’ tall ceilings in 20’ x 40’ ranch style living rooms.
I still have a penchant for the funicular.
😁😁😁
Ugly and dirt-magnets, these types of ceilings scream “I haven’t been updated for 60 years!”
My parents bought their second house in 1968, it had horrifying long shag olive green carpet that you had to rake LOL.
There is a joke that I cannot repeat here. Asbestos is in the punchline....
I see they use bowls as sinks instead of the normal level with the vanity. A bowl will have water running down the side that needs to be cleaned up.
#141 Look at the size of them steaks!!
I used to have jaguar, also.
“It will be interesting to see when the latest fads start falling out of favor”
One current fad I despise is when the kitchen cabinets have staggered heights so they’re all wonky at the top.
That Corn Pop was a bad dude, putting in those horrible ceilings across America.
I’ve only seen Chip and Joanna a couple times, but my impression was that he’s a bit on the retarded side. She seemed to treat him like her pet, and he seemed to like it. Maybe that’s just their schtick.
A small price to pay for being stylish.
We had one for 50 years. Recently went to a regular bad. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
I was working in a upscale drug dealer’s home,
in 60s. He had orange colored shag in his LARGE
game/bar room, entire floor and two walls!
Sound deadening? Or just taste-challenged? Might be neat to have a climbing wall for the cat.
😂
