Yep.

Johnny Dollar must be spinning in his action packed radio grave expense account.

As a child I liked her in “Bedknobs and Broomsticks.”

William Conrad did well on his own TV show “Cannon”. He had a ball with that one.

Is it on amazon prime or netflix?

I’m busy with the Last Kingdom, but the wife likes mystery movies.

He was the narrator for the Rocky & Bullwinkle Show too, my favorite cartoon when I was a kid; Wassamatta U., Frostbite Falls, MN, lol.

I learned years later he was fighter pilot in WW II also.

I hit OTR shows from time to time.

Fort Laramie is one I like. Has Raymond Burr as Lee Quince captain of Calvary.

He still appeared in over half of Gunsmoke’s radio episodes, and starred in two radio dramas during the 1950s, “Frontier Gentleman,” and the radio version of “Have Gun, Will Travel.” He then went on to a long career in TV. And, if that weren’t enough, Dehner also worked as an animator for Walt Disney, played the piano professionally and worked as a radio newsman in Los Angeles, winning a Peabody Award.

Ana exceptionally talented man, to say the least.

Each member of the radio cast received an audition for the TV series and all were quickly rejected. James Arness received a big boost for the starring role from his friend John Wayne; Arness was under contract with Wayne production company at the time. The Duke thought highly of him and even introduced the series on CBS.

Ironically, Howard McNear (Doc in the radio series) made guest appearances in several episodes of the TV version, and William Conrad directed three episodes of the TV series.

A lot of TV & film stars served. James Doohan, “Scotty” of Star Trek, was in Canadian infantry and was shot up by friendly fire on D-Day, with a finger having to be amputated.

I don’t know how well Gunsmoke would have fared on TV with Conrad, there weren’t many portly TV cowboys in the 50s. Maybe in comedy TV he might have worked, e.g. Gleason.
