Doritos Cuts Number of Chips in Each Bag, Blames Bidenflation

Food company Frito-Lay has cut down the number of chips in each bag of Doritos as record inflation has raised production expenses.

A bag of Doritos has five fewer chips than it used to, the company told Quartz. "Inflation is hitting everyone. … We took just a little bit out of the bag so we can give you the same price and you can keep enjoying your chips," a Frito-Lay representative said.

Other ubiquitous consumer products have fallen victim to "shrinkflation," Quartz reported. Bounty has cut three sheets from each roll of paper towels, and a box of Wheat Thins now has 28 fewer crackers.

Under the Biden administration, inflation has skyrocketed. Inflation reached a 40-year high last month, even before Russia's invasion of Ukraine caused energy prices to surge. The cost of food accounts for much of the inflation, with grocery prices up 8.6 percent from last year.

I remember when Obama was in office, things shrunk pop (soda) bottles went to 16.9 ounces, I think they were 20 ounce before that. Some I blame on Michelle.

Where did I go wrong? No one doubts the price of corn and labor is going up and food factories are expensive. But shaving 1/3 ounce is not the best way to increase revenue. You can’t keep removing chips forever. A price hike would be far easier and less expensive to implement.

This is just a marketing gimmick to take advantage of free publicity with regards to inflation. So people will talk about their chips and hopefully the story will “go viral.”

"Yup—we old timers just laugh at all the fear porn. If it was going to kill us it would have done so already...."

Right. What is good for you today will kill you tomorrow, according to "science". I could list a dozen things the experts said will kill you and then said they're good for you, and then said bad.

Here's my lifestyle:
Bad part: I drink a pint of rum a day and have drinked most of my life; I smoke a half a pack of cigs a day - on and off; I get major stressed at what's happening to my Country; sometimes fight with the wife.
Good part: I don't eat much and then it's chicken salad with cheese on Triscuit crackers (good for regularity); take multi-vitamins with minerals; take Milk Thistle for the liver (prescribed in Europe for such); walk at least 20 minutes at a fast pace 3 times weekly; rarely have fast food with the exception of a burger now and then; play my drums; enjoy my wife and doggie; get yearly comprehensive blood panels; get Testosterone shot every 2 weeks; and take life and assholes with a large grain of salt. F'em if they can't take a joke.

Both my parents died in their mid-60's, I'm 72 and feeling great. I still have that morning thing and desire my wife. T-shots are the probably the biggest contributor to my energy. Do some research on how quickly it decreases and why so many middle-age men die. If you can afford it, do it.

My biggest vice is smoking cigars.

Every “expert” says I should have died years ago....

Just yesterday the “experts” started backtracking a little in a report for the Food and Drug Administration:

“1 pound” bag of shrimp, which were 14 ounces, are now 12 ounces. It messes up my recipes. I won’t be surprised if Biden cures inflation by signing an executive order declaring all weighs and measures are cut in half.
