The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) found that Russia’s financial elite — the approximately 500 individuals with a net worth of more than $100 million — controlled 40% of the country’s entire household wealth.
That was three times the global average, where the super rich’s net worth makes up a combined 13% of total wealth.
A Forbes report previously found the wealth of Russia’s billionaires surged 45% during the pandemic, while the Financial Times reported that the wealth of Russia’s richest citizens makes up a higher share of the country’s GDP than in any other major economy.
At a combined $640 billion, BCG found the wealth of the richest 500, who make up less than 0.001% of Russia’s population, was higher than that of the poorest 114.6 million, or 99.8% of the adult population.
Real disposable incomes — a closely tracked proxy for living standards — dropped 3.6% during 2020, as the pandemic saw a temporary jump in unemployment and wage cuts for millions across the economy.

The super rich Russians got richer during the pandemic? That would never happen in America.
Wait a minute! This is the Moscow Times? That can’t be right! They have no freedom!!! They can’t just write stuff that will offend the anointed leadership!
The author just wants to date Putin.
(Said like Mongo handed a plate of beans) “Biden likes money!”
That’s a stupid headline. The top wealthiest people will ALWAYS be wealthier than all the rest.
I am dubious about statements like this. To start with, of Russia’s poorest, during communism they were openly kept down, and the only wealthy were communist party leaders.
So unless you track things from Boris Yeltsin’s reintroduction of capitalism, which more than anything else pointed out the grinding poverty that existed under communism, that is the *floor* of the graph.
Foreign wealth then poured in, and those that made deals and knew how things worked were the ones who made the bucks.
And as with mining, it is not the prospectors who become wealthy, but those who sell stuff to the miners.
If the average Russian was poor then, they are still poor, but from their point of view, they are a lot wealthier than they were. Only outsiders can make poor v. rich comparisons.
Let us throw out the forbidden fruit that the neo-con media refuses to publish.
Most of Russia’s “super wealthy” individuals are Jews. They work in concert with the “super wealthy” individuals in Israel who are Jews.
Together, both the Russian Jews and the Israeli Jews worked to develop the Israeli Leviathon gas fields in the Mediterranean Sea. Nothing wrong with that. Wealthy Jewish oligarchs work with other wealthy Jewish oligarchs, regardless of which countries they call home. How do I know that?
Well, I was there and it was reported in every Israeli newspaper in the country.
Look here: the Jew-hater fascist Biden tries to kill the EastMed pipeline to Europe.
“US informs Israel it no longer supports EastMed pipeline to Europe”

So, when it’s reported that Biden is sanctioning “rich Russian oligarchs,” he’s going after Jews. Both in Israel and Russia.
It’s more FUD and propaganda from the Jew-hating deep state.
This was the same during the Soviet Union.
I would say it was much worse during the Soviet Union.
And Putin is cozy-chummy with Iran because...
Seems like, that’s just how math works.
