Our mutual friend Anne (on the another forum) has one of those! If and when Mr. Wonderful gets around to building his Dream Pole Barn, we’re going to put one on one end or the other of the building.
Remember how I offered you fence posts? He says he has just enough on hand to fix fencing around here. Sorry! I thought he had a lot more in his stash, because he’s such a squirrel, LOL!
I guess keeping our land fenced IS pretty important in the long run. Again, sorry!
Have you tried the Habitat Store? Wonder if they carry them for cheap? They seem to be one of those things that unless you REALLY need them, nobody needs them.

Based me and my situation with a small and slightly drafty place heated with wood only and me wanting standardized equipment due to having a dream of doing a little market gardening one day. Works out to $200 for 4 sq ft of seed starting area but half of that is the heating mats and temp controllers for them which most people probably wouldn’t need. Heat mats without using a controller, keep the trays 10-20 degrees above ambient/room temperature. Mats are $20 and controller is $36.
Diana and I has a little back and forth in subsequent posts and she has a much cheaper way. Jiffy Pellets and whatever trays she has scrounged. Not sure if she uses grow lights or heat.

Asked my brother for a favor - 30 minutes of gas-powered pole saw time. An hour and a half later, it’s all cut. The chain came off, then we got the saw hung up in the last tree - had to throw a rope over some branches & do some pulling, etc. Anyway, I have enough hauling to do to last me the rest of the day in this GORGEOUS weather .... short-sleeve T-shirt only!

I don’t use any heat, but I do use grow lights, which I keep ON 24/7 for the heat until the plants germinate. Then, it’s domes off and 16 on, 8 off for lights. I have a grow light rack that I bought when I worked for Jung’s. One bank of lights was missing, so I got it at a deep discount. Three shelves still, so it’s perfect for starting my tomatoes and peppers inside in March. I use the bottom shelf for storage, and right now it’s a HUGE MESS! ;)
I’ve built furniture pieces off her plans. Turned out great. I love that she gives a complete buy/cut list so there’s no guesswork.
My friend in Connecticut built a greenhouse next to her garage last summer. I am so jealous! I’m not allowed to have a shed where I am, stupid HOA rules.
Maybe I can have one at my next home?

Maybe when/if wood prices come down. If I had pine trees here, I'd have a sawmill but I have oak/hickory. Hickory is good for tool handles and the smoker. Oak is heavy and hard to work with. Got a few cherry trees but none straight enough for making boards.

Wondering if anyone has been successful in starting seeds in K-cups. If so, what plants worked or didn’t work?
We have enjoyed a bit of a warming trend over the past week here in Central Missouri. It snapped back to cold last night, but most of the snow has melted and the paved roads are clear and dry now. The country roads are a sloppy mess with the freeze/thaw cycles, but that happens every year so we’re used to it.
I’ve been researching greenhouses, and oh my goodness are they ever proud of those things! A high-quality 8’x12’ kit is north of $3200 before tax and shipping.
I did some ciphering this morning and figure I can build the same size, but much sturdier, greenhouse from scratch for under $1500. I’ve got a plan on paper and the materials list calculated. All that’s left to do is go to the lumberyard, place my order, and then build it. I can get the framing done while I’m waiting on the panels to arrive.
If there are no major delays getting the panels I should have it done by salad planting time this spring.
