With their obsessive need to be perceived as nice, Republicans never play the game right.
The big news on Monday night was that Joe Biden, in response to a perfectly appropriate question from Fox News White House correspondent Steve Doocy, not only refused to answer but openly and into the mic called Doocy a “stupid son of a b****.” Biden then called Doocy, ostensibly to apologize. In fact, he didn’t apologize at all but Doocy seemed happy to be the nice guy who accepted a private non-apology in exchange for a public insult. In other words, Doocy handled the whole thing completely wrong.

My beef is with Peter Doocy. Preliminarily, I think very highly of Doocy because he’s willing to ask questions that no one else in the press room asks. (Others in the alternative media would but they’re barred from the press room.) Doocy’s not as probing as I would wish but he does push harder than anyone else and that’s definitely something.
As to this matter, though, Doocy failed completely. He shouldn’t have had a “nice call” with Biden and said that he didn’t need an apology. He did need an apology...a big one. What he should have said was, “Mr. Biden, you very publicly and crudely insulted me. I expect an equally public, explicit apology.” And that should have been the whole call, followed by daily reminders.
Game theory says that, if you’re the decent type, you first play by the rules. However, if your opponent refuses to play by the rules, and seeks to obtain an advantage through bullying and cheating, you teach him a lesson by bringing the same tactics to him, except on rocket-fueled steroids. You don’t say, “We had a nice call.”

I've done the same myself - knowing that I'll get a better opportunity to drop the hammer down the road....
paul ryan is the biggest threat to Fox News that they have. I imagine doocy was told how to respond.
Yeah, but the game theory model doesn’t work when the players are on uneven footing. Biden is POTUS. Doocy depends on POTUS grace for his current assignment. Of course Doocy can join the ranks of those not permitted to submit questions to POTUS.
I hear your anger. Do you think the Dementia Act is fake? That’s an interesting view. I do believe he is in some state of the disease, which excuses nothing.
I tend to agree with American Thinker on this one,
Peter is trying too hard to be neutral/nice but most of us wish he hadn’t
Acosta made life hellish for Trump......always in his face, interrupting, aggressive, lying
Jim Acosta never apologized
Supposedly we have Biden because of Trump’s retaliatory tweets.
But we know they outright stole the election
My father noted that Doocy mis-handled the call.
Peter should have told Joe “don’t apologize to me, apologize to MY MOTHER. And I mean publicly, with a truckload of roses.”
That’s what mafia bosses say right before their goons ki-ll you.
Yeah, be nasty back to POTUS and never be called on again to ask a question of the President. Not a good trade-off, as Peter Doocy gets quite a few zinger questions in to the Prez and Propagandist Psaki. That opportunity to ask hard questions would be gone and that would be a bad thing for our side as we have so few vehicles and opportunities to question this POTUS.
So, for the momentary satisfaction of calling POTUS out when he called, Doocy would have last his ability to ask hard questions of the Prez in the future. You win the battle but lose the war. Young Doocy is intelligent and knew better than to die on this battlefield. He did exactly the right thing and has shown a maturity for his age that will stand his future career in broadcasting well. Smart guy.
Strongly agree. Doocy has proved himself the bigger man, both literally and figuratively. Doocy is sharp witted, "Nobody has fact checked him yet to say it's not true." Doocy has displayed dignity and acumen, far beyond Lesko Biden's crass, disrespectful character.
Literally the bigger man includes Peter Doocy's stature at 6'5".
“IMO, Doocy is handling it like a grown up, professional news man”
indeed ... Doocy’s graciousness under fire from a power-mad, déclassé, demented thug clearly shows who’s the bigger man ... If Doocy had acted the jerk in response to Covid Joe’s belittlement, then Doocy would have lost all face and lowered himself to Covid Joe’s level, negating his advantage of making Covid Joe lose his cool and show his true face ...
Basement Joe with his basement polls is desperate. His political influence is Gone with the Wind.
.
Sure. In an ideal world, there would have been an uproar against Biden, but what we got was what we got. Big media piles up the kindling against Republicans so that sparks produce wildfires. With Democrats, the sparks just fizzle out. We don’t live in an ideal world. Doocey and FNC recognize that.
where is the head of the journalist association? why isn’t he demanding a public apology in mr. doocy’s case? it was a legitimate question to which a journalist was demeaned and intimidated.
IMHO Biden needs to apologize publicly not only to Doocy but also to the American public. A POTUS should never, ever call a citizen a SOB publicly! Biden told the world that an inquisitive citizen was a SOB. A public apology is required!
Where has that gotten us?

That’s how Trump handled them. The writer is correct. We have to use their tactics, but with more force.
Should have made him agree to a sit-down interview on the economy.
Best post in thread!!!
