Labor trouble had been brewing for days on the dusty set at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe.
The cinematographer who was accidentally killed, Halyna Hutchins, had been advocating for safer conditions for her team, said one crew member who was on the set.
As the camera crew — members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees — spent about an hour assembling their gear at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, several nonunion crew members showed up to replace them, the knowledgeable person said.
A member of the producer staff then ordered the union members to leave the set. She said if they didn’t leave, the producers would call security to remove them.
“Corners were being cut — and they brought in nonunion people so they could continue shooting,” the knowledgeable person said.
There were two misfires on the prop gun on Saturday and one the previous week, the person said, adding “there was a serious lack of safety meetings on this set.”
The shooting occurred about six hours after the union camera crew left.
Baldwin, the film’s star who also served as a producer on the film, was apparently rehearsing a scene outside the church of the Bonzana Creek Ranch set...
The scene involved a gun fight that began in the church, and then Baldwin’s character was supposed to back out of the church, according to production notes obtained by The Times. It was the 12th day of a 21-day shoot.

Hmmmm.
Apparently she was right.
Given his propensity for violence and the fact that he was being dissed by the lowly film crew, lead by a woman at that, should make him a potential suspect in this killing. Instead the good old "he didn't know the gun was loaded" scenerio is being played.
I see the lawyers circling.
“And what did the “producer” do about it?”
He shot the shooter.
If there is no footage of it, what the hell is Arec doing pointing a gun at somebody and pulling the trigger?
This is negligent homicide.
Arrest him.
How’s this for a truly bizarre conspiracy theory?

And then he offed her..how “convenient”
because he’s a lefty, automatic get out of jail free card
Why did Baldwin pull the trigger while rehearsing the scene?

See the link in post 28. One possible reason? He was pissed off.
He wanted to intimidate some people and killed a woman.
No film running?
No set.
Arrest him for being a damn fool and killing someone.
Jackass owns all of it.

Hmmm...Had not read about a misfire previous week.
In with Columbo - “One more thing...”
More UNION discord????
Sounds like someone lost their temper with the workers. Wonder who that could have been?
he’s playing an outlaw in the old west. So had probably had a six-shooter
Which requires one trigger pull for each discharge
so how did one person get dead and another get hospitalized?
Every gun is loaded. The operator is responsible for his actions. Baldwin murdered the girl.
My thoughts exactly. Labor Unions had been used to getting their way all the time. When they didn’t, some members might have decided to get even.
There should have been a safe environment and the crew should have been getting paid on time. Some members may have tired of the negotiation process.
As much as I can’t stand Alec, that’s a pretty low thing to do to someone, set them up to get somebody killed, just to shut down production for using non union crew members.
I’m sure Alec has thought about the person who handed him that prop gun. If he is smart, Alec will resist the temptation to telephone that person and discuss it.
Don’t dig yourself in deeper. Not right now.
Maybe they walked off the set before they got shot?
