A distraught Alec Baldwin repeatedly asked why was he given a “hot gun” after his prop weapon accidentally discharged on his New Mexico film set Thursday, killing a cinematographer and injuring the director, witnesses have claimed.
The tragic accident unfolded while Baldwin was filming his upcoming western film “Rust” at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Sante Fe.
Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, died and director, Joel Souza, 48, was injured after they were both struck when the gun discharged, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said.
Immediately after the incident, an eyewitness told Hollywood gossip site Showbiz 411 that Baldwin started asking how he could have been given a “hot gun” – meaning a firearm loaded with real ammunition.
“In all my years, I’ve never been handed a hot gun,” the actor allegedly kept saying.

So typical of the Lefties, they mock gun owners yet they have no clue how to safely handle a firearm.
They must have parked their car in his spot or photographed his bad side.
How do you accidentally shoot 2 people?
One in the shoulder and one in the stomach.
Shoot one person then go hmm.. then shoot another?
I despise Alec Baldwin, but actors are not qualified to be firearm prop masters on the sets where they are filming. That is supposed to be under the control of a specially trained person who is responsible to ensure that the gun is properly set for the intended use.
In this case, because it was on set, the blame lies with the prop master and his staff, not the actor, unless the actor substituted live rounds for the intended blanks.
Yeah man,the media will twist themselves into pretzels covering for Baldwin and blaming “The Gun!”
If it turns out there was an actual live round in that chamber, then someone should be going to jail for a very long time because that had to be intentional. Bug if it was some kind of obstruction, or foreign material...I dunno. Have to know the details, I guess.
Why would Baldwin even point a gun at a non-actor. Gun safety is gun safety. You don’t ever point a gun at anyone. Just like a typical elitist who thinks that rules don’t apply to him.
1. The cinematographer and director were shot, not cast members. It’s clear he’s breaking the first and second rules of gun handling.
2. The prop master should check and hand over the gun only at the beginning of a scene - he had the gun for other purposes.
3. He shot two people, not one.
4. He’s an idiot.
∴ He shot them purposefully
This demonstrates one thing. Alec isn’t aware of the basics of firearm safety. Never point a gun at anything you dont intend to shoot, never touch the trigger unless you are ready, be sure of your target.... etc etc.
he is already off the hook and innocent of course .
Hey Baldwin. Why did you point it at someone and pull the trigger you worthless son of a.
I can envision a camera shot where Baldwin faces the camera and fires. More likely though he saw screwing around.
I am certain it was not intentional and he didn't have some reason for wanting to kill them. All perfectly innocent I am sure.
But you have to wonder.
He is an angry, bitter man who has talked about how people should be killed before.
Just something to consider.
According to early reports live ammo was not permitted on site. I heard this morning that they may have been hit by shrapnel. Don’t know enough about prop guns to make an educated evaluation of the incident.
Who knows at this point, but I bet it was a scene where the cinematographer was behind the camera and the director was behind her. He might have just been following a scene and pointed at the camera like the script called for and fired. I wonder if it was multiple rounds or one that penetrated both.
Freegards
The actor is ultimately responsible, even with prop guns there are safety requirements. I suspect Alec is too big a star to be concerned with taking the time to be safe.
This goes along the lines of, if you hand a loaded gun to a chimp don’t blame the chimp if someone gets shot.
The real question is why did he point and shoot the gun at director and cinematographer?
Also, how does someone his age, who has most likely handled prop guns numerous times in his career, not learn the first lesson of firearms?
A member of the 99% would, at a minimum, be charged with negligent discharge of a firearm - and probably negligent homicide.
In the immortal words of Marion Barry...
“Bitch set me up.”
Certainly a possibility.
This a-hat has a history of being an idiot. No doubt in my mind he was being reckless with that firearm.
