Probably the usual, rival tribes fighting each other until one was annihilated and/or driven out.

Thanks BI.
There is a lot about runes in Gloria Farley’s book They All Discovered America. For those who are unaware of this book, she spent her lifetime exploring, finding, and recording rock art, symbols, etc. that indicated Europeans and North Africans had explored and left their traces in the US. She has runes, various Mediterranean scripts, and various religious symbols for Tanit, Epona, and others. Some traces are probably more than 2,000 years old. I wonder if the time of the Sea Peoples might have included explorations of our inland rivers, as some people were forced out of their cusomery sea routes. She also collaborated with a linguist and student of old languages and writing, some name like Dr. Fells, but my memory may be off a bit.

No, because there were no "Sea Peoples" as they've been spun out of pretty thin air.
Barry Fell is the name you're thinking of. He was real dynamo, and while it's reasonable to say that he wasn't always right, heh, who is, he was more often right or on the right track than some may give him credit.
I don't find Farley's book on Amazon, but they have a 1993 book In Plain Sight: Old World Records in Ancient America; at $55 a bit rich for my pocket book right now. It got mostly great reviews.
Oddly, the book is not listed on her own page. {She is now deceased.}
The book - They All Discovered America is listed on Amazon as authored by Charles Michael Boland; one copy is $45 and the paperback is listed at $580!!!
They all discovered America may have been a subtitle. In plain sight sounds right. It is a big book. I think 10 or 11 inches, and an inch thick. I have gone to Google and found various articles. I think I have her 1994 First Edition which was marketed at $39. Abe Books lists several between $200 and $300. Below is a very detailed In Memorium written by her friend Barry Fell’s son Justin Fell.

Used copies can be found for under $100, generally. I’m not sure I have a copy of that one, but I remember some articles of hers in ESOP. This is her website, some excerpts there:
