The medicine ivermectin is being controversially used to treat or prevent COVID-19, which is causing some people to need medical attention.
Five Oregonians were recently hospitalized because they consumed a potent antiparasitic drug despite there being no clinical data supporting its use for COVID-19. The Oregon Poison Center strongly recommends the public only use scientifically proven and FDA-approved methods to combat the novel coronavirus.
The Oregon Poison Center has managed 25 cases involving Oregonians intentionally misusing ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19 between Aug. 1 and Sept. 14. Five of those cases involved hospitalization, and two people were so severely ill that they had to be admitted to an intensive care unit. Although the Oregon Poison Center also serves Alaska and Guam, the vast majority of ivermectin cases it has managed this year have come from Oregon.
“COVID-19 is a devastating disease and can be very frightening, but the public does not need to use -- nor should it use -- unproven and potentially dangerous drugs to fight it,” said Robert Hendrickson, M.D., medical director of the Oregon Poison Center at Oregon Health & Science University and professor of emergency medicine in the OHSU School of Medicine.
“Health care providers can help COVID patients by prescribing treatments that are already carefully tested and approved,” Hendrickson said. “And vaccination, in combination with masking, physical distancing, frequent hand-washing and other measures, continues to be the best way to avoid getting infected.”
The Oregon Poison Center’s recent cases involved a variety of symptoms, including mental confusion, balance issues, low blood pressure and seizure. The patients were in their 20s through their 80s, although most were older than 60. The cases were fairly evenly split between both men and women, and between people attempting to either prevent or treat COVID-19. Some cases involved individuals obtaining a prescription for either human or veterinary forms of the drug.
Both the Food and Drug Administration and Merck, which makes ivermectin for human use, have announced there is no scientific data that supports its use for COVID-19. Neither the FDA nor the National Institutes of Health have endorsed its use for COVID-19, and OHSU doesn’t recommend any use of ivermectin for COVID-19. Initial lab research indicated ivermectin might be able to treat COVID-19, but when tested in human trials, ivermectin did not decrease symptoms or cure the disease.
Ivermectin is approved to treat some parasites in people and some animals.
Those who experience COVID-19 symptoms or are exposed to COVID-19 are encouraged to contact their primary care provider for assistance, and to only go to an emergency department if they are experiencing severe symptoms and need emergency medical assistance. Oregonians who don’t have a primary care provider or have COVID-19 questions can call the OHSU COVID-19 Connected Care Center hotline: 833-647-8222. Those who take ivermectin for COVID-19 and have symptoms or questions can also call the Oregon Poison Center: 800-222-1222.
If you or a loved one is experiencing a poison emergency, call the Oregon Poison Center at 800-222-1222. A trained health care provider is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The call is free and confidential. Poison prevention education and other poison safety resources are available at https://www.ohsu.edu/oregon-poison-center. Accredited by the American Association of Poison Control Centers, the Oregon Poison Center is a designated regional poison control center for Oregon, Alaska and Guam.

Kerala
I had been reading Kamala BS so brain farted the spelling.
Seriously. UP has invermectin both prophylacticly and as treatment. UP is 35% ish vaxed. Kerala 45%ish. Kerala has banned invermctin and is using Remdisavir, Doxy, the steroids etc. like we are.
.00006% in Uttar Pradesh. 220 million inhabitants. Large migrant population so big spread vectors. .00006%
19.5% in Keramala. 45 million inhabitants. WHO minion as health expert there. Invermectin is not legal for treatment nor prophalaxis. 19.5 friggin %.
You can lead a horse to water but you cant make it any less stupid. A stupid horse is a stupid horse.
INVERMECTIN cuts the chain of transmission!!!! Be it the prophalactic use or preventing viral loads from leaving the patient. (Death rates and hospitalization rates much lower in UP, but hard to get enough sick or dying people to do a damned study)

“Did they drink the external liquid?”
If they drink the cattle version, which is liquid, in the proper dosage, or even 10 times the proper dosage, they’d be fine. But the larger versions have about 300 human doses...which will give people trouble if they drink a good portion of it.
The horse paste version is closer to 6 doses per tube and thus much less likely to cause an OD.
There is also a topical version...don’t try that one, it won’t end well.

Health care providers can help COVID patients by prescribing treatments that are already carefully tested and approvedLike remdesivir, I presume....
If it was possible to get cheap IVM from your pharmacist just by asking and it came with clear instruction there would be no problem with people choking down the nasty horse paste.
If you get sick, put down the horse paste at that point and seek monoclonal antibody infusion QUICKLY!

I had planned, in case i got covid, to go to a clinic set up 8n Texas and get the antibodies infusion. But now, the Biden administration decided it wasn’t fair that Florida and Texas were offering this treatment and cut our supplies in half. (Texas here) my rural town medical monopoly has decided Ivermectinis bad, so don’t even know if I can get a prescription made or filled. I would rather get the antibodies.
Psaki said it wasn’t fair for Florida to get more antibody treatments tha Oklahoma. How does that make any sense as OK has less than 4 million population and Florida has over 21 million?

Maybe, just maybe they had underlying medical conditions and the blame was put on ivermectin. The truth is hard to find in articles such as these. Besides, even if these 5 ended up in the hospital from ivermectin use how many thousands end up in the hospital from the vaccine use and it gets nary press coverage.

Wanna bet. Someone can die from a lethal dose of water. If these clowns took a dose designed for a 1,500 pound horse, yeah they could die.
Furthermore, I’m fed up with not only stupid people, but doctors making unsubstantiated claims about this drug. It’s been around for four decades, approved by the FDA for treating other diseases and found to be considered a miracle drug for Covid. Too many doctors, hospitals and drug stores are intellectually LAZY to watch this documentary:

I bet half the people reading this post are too lazy to cut and paste the link.

In Portland you won’t be arrested if you’re caught with meth or heroin.
But you damn well better not be caught with Ivermectin!
