A new report with detailed data from Public Health England provides some startling numbers.
For the period of February 1 through August 2 there were COVID Delta variant cases for 47,000 people who had received 2 vaccine doses, and for 151,054 people who were unvaccinated.
In the first group of vaccinated people there were a total of 402 deaths, and in the second much larger group of unvaccinated people there were 253 deaths. To get the death rate you divide the number of deaths by the total number of infection cases.
That gives a death rate of .86 percent among the vaccinated and .17 percent among the unvaccinated. That is an amazing difference. The death rate among vaccinated was just over five times greater than that for the unvaccinated.
In other words, unvaccinated people who got infected were enormously safer from death. How can we explain this huge difference in terms of medical science? It should also be noted that it was determined that the measured viral load in both groups was the same.

ESPN’s flagship college football program had an interesting sign in the crowd ahead of the Clemson-Georgia game on Saturday night in Charlotte.
“College Gameday” usually features fans’ signs prominently and most of them are clever – either proclaiming their team is the best or taking a joking jab at a rival. But one woman’s sign was no joke.
The person held up a sign that read “Proud Marine Mom” with a photo of the Marine and the Marine Corps seal. The sign was accompanied by the words “Love you Ryan!” and “#I don’t kneel.” The clip of the signs was tweeted out and the mom’s sign can be seen around the 9:45 mark.

I’m proud to live in Tennessee.
A lady I worked with has COVID. We retired about the same time but she’s over 70. She, her daughter, and granddaughter all tested positive for COVID at the same time last week. ALL THREE were offered the monoclonal antibody infusions and all three are much better. My sister is 59 with no health issues and when she had it a couple of months ago that was the first thing they offered her. She didn’t take it because she only felt like she had a sinus infection and was over it in three days but it was offered.
Just think how much better all of this would be if all states cared more about their citizens that they did making politicians happy.
