Very interesting that so many see this as "on purpose" and a way to control us.
More fuel for the fire that never seems to get addressed. We all watch the pundits and others talk and talk and they never seem to ask the right questions. Either because they’re dumb or suppressing information, intentionally.
So, we take your 30% and then ask the next person down the supply chain, how that effects them. Do they tell the world, “yes, my company is going to absorb that 30% and I’m going to allow it to eat into my profits, on top of all the other costs I incur as a business owner”? NOPE.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but they take that 30%, figure out what they have to charge and pass that 30% onto the next guy and so on down the line. And, ultimately, it’s the consumers that get the final bill and have no one to pass it on to.
That’s not about work ethic that is a rational choice. If I make more money doing nothing nothing is what you get. This is basic economics
Our local Stop&Shop has been going downhill fast. There’s more and more self serve registers,it’s always a hunt to find even the most basic items,two weeks ago they only had ONE clerk at the deli during a busy time of day,and last week there was no one working the deli at all....they had all the meats and cheeses pre-sliced and pre-packaged.
I was a prepper going all the way back to Y2K—and, like a broken clock, I got it right—twenty years later....
We had tons of toilet paper, and I got to be a hero in the house...

One big one is trucking. The older drivers said “to hell with it” after the trial covid martial law thing.
I know for a fact that the big trucking companies have screwed the industry up by not opposing the newest EPA regulations like they should have. So now you have fewer independents out there.
Who the hell wants to work for a company that advertises “home weekends” and then when they send you out, your lucky to get back home for 2 to 3 months.
“We need you to take this load to there. It is imperative that you take that load.”
Then you have to have an “Appointment” to get unloaded and some of the time you run into a bastard of a dock supervisor who makes it hell for you.
It’s pretty simple: Exploding demand for groceries combined with shortages in labor and raw materials.
Labor shortage, yes. COVID related, yes. Employees using it as an excuse to show up at work; possible, but I'm seeing other trends.
One large trend I'm witnessing first hand is retirements from individuals who could have retired years ago. They're not putting up with mask mandates, social distancing nonsense, testing fallacies, etc. They have no desire to work from home because they really were only working to get out of the house. Many of them are now watching the grand kids.

As to the trucking thing.
One thing they could do is force states to close their GD chicken coops. They have motion scales now and dont need those bastards forcing trucks to stop every time they enter another state.
Big changes in the mix of goods. The delivery and curb pickup services have changed things.
And they’re always out of creamer! How can they run out of “ultra pasteurized” creamer? It has a very long shelf life.

Talked to a jr domo at the local Meijer (supermarket) yesterday. He said the biggest supply problem is in the transportation/trucking sector.
I know a guy who drives a trash truck for a local outfit (not Waste Mgmt or Republic) he says they can’t get certain parts to keep their all rigs on the road. Don’t know if that is affecting OTR also.
I work all day logging in trucks. Last year they were lined up down the street from the gate. This year I am sitting on my can most of the day and if I log more than a truck an hour its busy. And you can’t tell me both China and Amazon aren’t above manipulating supply chains. Oh wait, the Wuflu came from batwing soup, and 2020 saw the most honest election in history.
You are absolutely right. I too have for years seen the agenda for state ownership of everything, including the citizens through dependency.

Someone is attempting to gin up a panic...
I thought wages were at the heart of the issue but have since changed my mind.
I’m hearing constant tales of employees refusing to do assigned tasks, walking off the job on whims, calling in sick (or just going radio silent), returning to the base having undelivered cargo, etc. Warehouse jobs start at $20.00/hr for unskilled laborers. Drivers need a CDL so they’ve bumped the starting wage to $23.00/hr and in some cases are paying for trucker school.
Employees are doing so because they can get away with it. They know that when staffing levels are at 65% the company cannot afford to lose anyone else. So they are tolerating misbehavior.
This has a cascading effect. When workers see coworkers slack or openly defy their superiors without consequence they quickly adopt the same bad habits. One guy was bragging that he was only around long enough to pay off his motorcycle then he was going to quit. A female coworker repeatedly complained about COVID fears to get out of work.
The work ethic I grew up with is dead.
Less availability also means getting to charge higher prices when available.
Supply and demand.
Win win for the suppliers and sellers.
A convenient easy way to increase profits at consumer expense.

When the panic comes, there won’t be anything left to panic buy.
This has been done very slowly and methodically to hide the signs of a collapsing economy.
