There's a home north of me that actually built one of the types of fences that was featured in one of the books. (Read them quite awhile ago so I can't recall which book of the series it was.) I recall reading the one about "Haints," but I can't recall which of the others I've read.

It looks like Backwoods Home magazine is still being published. Apparently, Masad Ayoob is a contributor.

We kind of resemble that too.

It has really been a weird weather year up here on the mountain.

We usually only use the AC unit in June, 1st of July, but this year hubby has turned it on every afternoon since we put it in the window back in June, that is except for the monsoon season.

I talked him into taking it out today and storing it for the winter so I could move the front room furniture around and so I could bring in the plants.

Hope I don’t regret it as we could still have an “Indian Summer” and have some heat.

✋ Got first issue of BHM here! LOVE Jackie Clay. Have all her books! Also BackHome Magazine (now defunct) that was put out by some of the original Mother Earth News contributors. I stopped getting all the magazines years ago, figuring I was getting too old for my dream.

I wonder if Countryside is still around?? 🤔

do you still have the “mother earth news” mags you bought? I was a rocker and have the “ rolling stones” mags I bought, plus news mags about those right-wingers. And some others. I bought plastic sleeves for them and an old time magazine rack my son helped me refinish.

I do, plus once Ebay became a ‘thing’, I purchased back issues as well. Thus my having Issue 1 of Mother Earth News magazine even though I was 7 when it first came out. 😁

NEW: Federal sources tell me that U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz flew into Del Rio, TX this afternoon and is currently down at the international bridge trying to get a handle on the situation.
More than 11,000 migrants under the bridge, with more coming.
