that’s twice in a row!
Great TO HEAR FROM YOU!
In 2002, I went to the one year anniversary memorial ceremonies of the 9-11 attacks in Shanksville, PA. In the local general store, the all volunteer fire department (population 237) was selling wrist bracelets made of US/PA steel to honor the victims and heroes of United flight 93. On one side of the bracelet are the letters USA, and on the other side are the words “Let’s Roll”. I wear the bracelet to honor this brave man and in tribute to all of the passengers aboard flight 93.
Wanting to do something ordinary in tiny Shanksville, I elected to get a haircut at the only barbershop in town. To my surprise, the barber had a ticket to a memorial service that night at a local church intended specifically for the families of the victims of flight 93 and for the local first responders and townspeople to attend. He said to me that he wasn’t going and if I wanted to go he would give me his ticket. I accepted his kind offer. I was humbled to be in the presence of these special people and to be allowed into such a poignant ceremony.
One of the MURDERED passenger’s sibling, her twelve year old sister, performed a tribute piano piece that was one of the bravest and most moving musical performances I ever had the privilege of witnessing. Her composure was unforgettable and cathartic for everyone in attendance.
As an almost newly registered “freeper” I managed to send a few field reports to FR from the local library in Somerset, which I MAY be able to dig up on the tribute archives resurrected earlier today here at FR.
NEVER FORGET!
(FWIW- Less than 2 years later I would find myself supporting our troops in Afghanistan for 15 months, and Iraq for 25 months.)
MY BLOOD IS BOILING!
We’re okay, no disagreement here. 💕
Well how about dat?!
I wasn’t even trying, honest!
YIPPEE!
*big toothy evil grin*
I know there were some hecklers at Ground Zero regarding vax mandates as well.
What a very special memory!
Thank you for sharing it tonight.
I think the somberness and sadness of the day has effected most of us here and we may just need that young lady to play for us.
TBH-I’m still afraid of it.
Praying to our Lord Jesus about it
helps keep me grounded and calm(er).
It IS wrong, and I HATE being pushed
around like that!
“Do this or else”
It really fries my taters, ya know?
Tune in now guys. This is going to be a great and fun night. Any of your local cable PPV carriers will have it. pic.twitter.com/tZwr2ZcGjJ— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) September 11, 2021
Should have specified English, Spunky! LOL
I sure know how your SIL feels!
In this day and age, everything is SO expensive!
I can just image the heating oil prices come winter!
When the frigid winter winds come howling
we’ll be warm and safe and snug!
(At least I HOPE so!)
It’ll keep us from having to bust up
the furniture to burn to keep warm!
Just lucky I guess!
I also got a VERY nice raise at work!
I shoulda bought a lottery ticket!
I was planning on going back to work earlier this morning and seeing how I had communications (cable TV) on the 20th anniversary of 9-11, I made a decision to get the hotel room for one more night. I owe it to the heroes of 9-11, to remember them and memorialize them for their selfless sacrifice.
Another memory...
I got interviewed by a reporter from the Chicago Tribune when I was at the memorial ceremony in Shanksville. For giggles just now, and to my surprise, I did an engine search and found the article. (perry harris chicago tribune shanksville pa)
Quote:
"It was the best of the spirit of America that was on that airplane," said Perry Harris, 45, who left his home in Lincoln, Ill., Monday night to drive 613 miles to attend the one-year anniversary service here. "That hole in the ground was the footprint of a beast called evil, but we don't notice that hole because there are 40 pairs of angel wings fluttering in the air," Harris said.

Why am I not surprised?
No more Tyson products for me!
Good for that local truck company!
It’s about time that folks start to
fight back and tell them ENOUGH!!
A little bit of good news.
Excuse if posted....
Spectrum Health workers can use natural immunity as vaccine mandate exemption
The policy could be updated if future evidence shows naturally acquired protection is waning or longer lasting, or if there is a validated antibody test result showing immunity, the statement said.

Not sure it’s been mentioned here, but Biden visited a firehouse in Shanksville PA today. It appears he made some remarks/spoke to the press afterwards. Here’s the transcript:
(this where I went WTH??? It’s at the end of the remarks)
You’ve heard me say it a thousand times: This is the most unique country in the whole damn world. We’re an idea. It’s an idea. It’s not based on ethnicity. It’s not based on geography. It’s not based on religion. It’s not based — it’s an idea. It really is. “We hold these truths…” I mean, we never lived up to it, but we’ve never walked away from it, except the last — previous four years. (***WTH #1***)
And so, you know, it would be inappropriate for me to tell you the number of serious Republicans in the past, and a few that are still around, who call me and tell me, “What can I do to help?” Because they get it too. They may not agree with everything I say, but this idea that, you know, “What do you want to do with Biden?” “I want to box him.” I mean — you know. I should be so lucky. You know what I mean?
But it is — the kinds of things — or, you know, the stuff that’s coming out of Florida, the stuff that’s coming out of — you know, “If Robert E. Lee had been in Afghanistan, we would have won.”
Anyway, I’m telling you too much.
But the point is, what I’m thinking about today is what these people who — and I’ve got a piece of — a small piece of one of the beams they have — they gave me last time — or not last time, but how many times ago — and the flag they gave me. And I’m thinking of, you know, what — what — of the people who died, what would they be thinking? They think it makes sense for us to be in this kind of thing, where you ride down the street and someone has a sign saying “F so and so”? Or — it’s not who we are. (my comment***we’re getting to him!***)
Q This is the first anniversary with no war in Afghanistan anymore. Do you think this marks a new phase for the country as it experiences this anniversary 20 years later?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I think — look, I do. If you read, there was a big article with 16, 17 people. Was it in, um — I guess it was — what was it?
AIDE: Politico.
THE PRESIDENT: Politico. And quoting major players over the last 20 years.
And everybody — every one of them said they’re — look, this was — we didn’t start off this way. If you had told anybody that we were going to spend 300 million bucks a day for 20 years to try to unite the country after we got bin Laden, after al Qaeda was wiped out there — can al Qaeda come back? Yeah. But guess what? It’s already back in other places.
What’s the strategy? Every place where al Qaeda is we’re going to invade and have troops stay there? Come on.
Anyway. So, I just think that — and, again, what people are — as I read it, I’m told, people — 70 percent of the American people think it was time to get out of Afghanistan — spending all of that money.
But the flip of it is, they didn’t like the way we got out. But it’s hard to explain to anybody how else could you get out.
For example, if we were in Tajikistan and we pulled up with a C-130 and said, “We’re going to let, you know, anybody who was involved with being sympathetic to us to get on the plane,” you’d have people hanging in the wheel well. Come on. (***WTH??? #2***)
So — but you guys got a tough job, and I’m glad I don’t have it.
So, anyway, I’m going to do my thing.
You are such a great writer, have you written any books?
Glad you stayed over for one more day and decided to spend your evening on the TFT.
