Olivia Rodrigo knows the impact she has on fans of color, revealing in a new Q&A that she herself once believed only white girls could be recognized as true pop stars.

When “Saturday Night Live” star Bowen Yang asked the “Brutal” singer how her Filipino American background factors into how she approaches her career, she said it’s “something incredible to think about.”

“I sometimes get DMs from little girls being like, ‘I’ve never seen someone who looked like me in your position.’ And I’m literally going to cry, like, just thinking about it,” Rodrigo, 18, said in the V Magazine feature.

“I feel like I grew up never seeing that. Also, it was always like, ‘Pop star,’ that’s a white girl.”

The song his Hey Nineteen (not Eighteen), but your point about Aretha Franklin still fits.

Wow, how far do you have to go back to find black and latino stars. And I mean stars that showed up on prime time TV and played on the biggest radio stations in the country. Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole were on TV when it started. Ritchie Valens was just 17 when he had a number one hit and a number two hit. His parents were both born in Mexico. And by the way there are hundreds more, maybe thousands. If Olivia thought white girls where the only stars she did not get out much. Nor did she ever turn on the radio. Jay Lo and Beyonce must be mad.

Yes, but this girl is eighteen, so I changed it to make it fit her. (Apologies to Donald Fagan.)

Four hit songs and every one of them is about the bad choices she made when it comes to boyfriends.

At age 18 I too was stupid! I even voted for a local Democrat. Give her a break, it is the media that hypes this more than her.

I think it may be a popular delusion of our era. Or just some kid reciting the talking points that seem to work in a woke world.

Does she really think that all across Asia all of the pop stars are "white"? Hasn't she ever seen a K-Pop band, or a Bollywood star, or a Chinese pop star, or a Filipino pop star? Has she ever seen what pop stars in Nigeria look like?

And dozens and dozens of other very successful music performers and ensembles.

One thing all of the young Americans fixated on race seem to miss is that the USA is only one part of a very large and diverse world. And in most of the world "white" people as characterized by the American left are a tiny minority.

I am so inspired by so many different genres of music.

Her skills at research are about on par with most yutes today. Clearly she skipped over jazz completely. Apparently hip hop as well. Motown must be alien to her vocabulary. If she's that ignorant Elvis and the Beatles would probably draw a blank face on her.

Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Gloria Estefan, just off the top of my head.

Ms. Rodrigo is an ignorant poseur and a liar.
