All stores in my area have been out of NAC all week. Yesterday one told me that FDA has finally cracked down. Supply line choked off. I confirmed this with another store today. Amazon caved back in May, but the supplement industry was holding out. Looks like that has ended.
For those of you who don’t know, NAC was introduced as a drug in the 60s. It was originally used as an expectorant for bronchial phlegm. It is also used for liver detox in Tylenol overdose.
I’ve seen many Freepers post on the benefits for COVID-19 in the last year. Various studies have shown NAC usefulness in preventing and reducing severity of COVID-19. Thus, the need to crack down now, after 60 years of safe over-the-counter use. Can’t have anything that works on COVID-19!
I imagine it will still be available in the future, but only as a prescription. Perhaps America’s Front Line Doctors will prescribe it?
Bttt
I would not buy supplements, or food items, on Ebay or Amazon.
Market place sellers have been known to counterfeit these types of items.
Reputable supplement sellers (like Swanson) are the best way to go, if not directly to the manufacturer’s website.
Thank you SO MUCH for explaining what the hell NAC is... /sarcasm
No. I’m not saying you can’t find it around. I’m saying that once it’s out, stores won’t be able to restock. Ask at your store that carries it and find out for yourself. You can still buy it while it is in stock. It won’t be restocked.
600 or 1200 MG capsules? Which do you recommend?
What is the recommended dosage?
I don’t buy these things in ‘stores’.
Look for a good online supplier who carries quality items. Stock up, if you’re afraid you won’t be able to get more.
one of the supplements I gave it to my dog when he had liver disease
I’ve only ever seen 600mg. I think that is the standard dose. I’m not comfortable making any recommendations for people though. I was just passing on info on availability,
Here is a link to a Medcram video from early in covid. It’s about a half hour long. Technical, but he explains it well. He might offer dosage suggestions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr_6w-WPr0w
thx....ordered 4 bottles....never took it but have read a lot about it here on FR.
It most definitely is.
Thanks for you response, and the video suggestion. I'll have to watch it in the morning. 🙂
You are quite welcome!!
DoubleWood has Acetyl L-Carnitine but not the recommended N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine.
They are similar but not the same.
BTTT!!!
The Soros/Clinton CDC strikes again.
It’s not N Acetyl L Cysteine; see this answer from the Swanson site:
“Is this the n acetyl l cysteine form?

Best Answer: No it’s not. There is a N Acetyl L-Cysteine solution that I’ve been using for years but now is in high demand and is backordered.
