COVID-19 immunizations are the foundation of stopping the spread of the virus, keeping us safe and getting back to normal, but even as vaccines roll out and cases plummet across the province, research into treatment options remains a crucial element in the global fight against COVID-19.
Povidone iodine, known by the brand name Betadine, is a topical antiseptic – a substance that kills and prevents the growth of microorganisms. It is commonly used to help heal wounds and disinfect skin before and after surgery. It has also been used with success at the St. Paul’s Sinus Centre as a nasal rinse to treat chronic inflammation diseases of the nasal cavity.
The purpose of this new study is to determine if povidone-iodine used in a sinus rinse and throat gargles or gel nasal spray are effective treatments for patients diagnosed with COVID-19.
Stopping the disease early
“We believe that this treatment will be a game-changer for COVID-19,” says Dr. Amin. “While most groups are working on developing a vaccine or treatments for hospitalized and severe patients, we are working on stopping the disease in an early stage, when the symptoms are mild and we can delay the spread of the virus to the lungs.”
The study is currently recruiting patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are isolating at home. Participants will be sent a kit containing saliva sample collection cups, treatment, and questionnaires. The treatment will be randomly assigned (either povidone iodine rinses and gargles, placebo rinses and gargles, or povidone iodine gel forming nasal spray). Participant are asked to perform the treatment twice a day for 14 days. At the end of the study, the research team will determine if povidone iodine reduces the concentration of the virus in saliva samples compared to a placebo.

We should just nuke the major cities in China and be done with it.
Not sure if it was a home remedy fad back in the 50s when I was a kid, but every time one of us kids had a sniffle, or every time something was going around, dad made us start gargling with iodine. Lots of iodine. Jeez, I hated that stuff. Must’ve gargled away five gallons of it growing up. And I still caught every bug that went around. Didn’t thwart a single one of them. So I’m interested... But highly skeptical!
TY.
no one is alergic to iodine; you need it to live. What most are struggling with when using food grade iodine is detox symptoms. Iodine is a very effective detox; you can feel like real crap when you start using it. That’s why there’s a protocol for it of magnesium, vitamin C, selenium and salt, which helps open the pathways and remove the toxins.
you SHOULD drink it, in the form of Lugol’s. Drops of it in water is extremely effective against bacteria, viruses, fungus and cancer
Not a fad. Extremely effective as a treatment against a number of things. The liars in big pharma worked hard to destroy the messaging on iodine but the mineral NEVER changed.
I have iodine in a bottle with a dropper applicator. How does one do this?
There’s a doctor in Detroit that was/is treating patients with nebulized hydrogen peroxide and adding a few drops of iodine into the mix. (”Regular off-the shelf 3% hydrogen peroxide can be utilized. Preparations of greater pharmacological purity can be obtained if desired.”)

Poster Black Agnes was talking about Iodine very early on..like Feb or March of 2020
Maybe, if the treatment is found to be effective, Trump should post “do not try this treatment”.
I can only tell you what I do based on an ENT
It needs to be PVP iodine. Dont ask me why.
I dont use it in my mouth for fear of staining teeth.
Sometimes I use swabs and swab my nose. Sometimes I use a nasal spray I made with saline solution. Sometimes I use a PVP iodine prepackaged swab when I am out of my house. You can buy them from CVS. You can also buy them from Amazon but mixed reviews on them. The ones from CVS are quite big.
Clearly it is better to snort it so you can feel it in the back of your nasal passage but I dont always do that because I cant stand it.
Another solution is something ENT’s tell people to do. Baby shampoo irrigation. I dont do that. I just stick some gentle soap up my nose
BTW, if you are snorting it you are suppose to dilute with saline solution.
The other thing that could possibly work for your mouth is gentian violet. Moms use it on babies for thrush.
HOWEVER it stains. I use it outside. It supposedly can cause cancer. AND I dont’ know if it has been proven to work on COVID
Another peroxide/iodine recipe including making your own saline solution; https://www.spiritofchange.org/nebulized-peroxide-a-simple-remedy-for-covid-19/
If you swab the nasal area out, or as you say snort it, does it need to be rinsed for fear you will swallow it if it hits the back of your throat? Also does the nasal area need to be rinsed afterward? I’ve only used iodine typically to be absorbed through skin
Topically not typically
Dentists used that to cut down on covid in patients they had to work on. Crest, Colgate and others have that In them in some varieties of their mouthwash
I think this is why you use PVP iodine versus the other kind.
The ENT that I saw talking about this on the news put it in a saline bottle and just snorted it and you were done.
Every recipe I have seen talk about this from Drs talks about the PVP version.
I dont know that I would want to use this multiple times of day for fear of hurting the nasal passage but for my purpose which is not often I do it.
But really if Soap kills Covid then soap in the nose should work.
Saline works also. Maybe not as effective?
Also Xlear spray (xylitol and saline) claims to work and has applied to the FDA for treatment status.
