Some times there an inner part of us that we didn’t really know existed and drugs of this kind have opened us up to it. It may be pleasant experience or it may not but it always seems to be rather life changing. My experience with acid was pretty scary the first time, probably because I was by myself and had no clue what was fixing to happen, this was my senior year in high school. When I got to Vietnam my whole world changed, everything revolved around drugs or alcohol. Alcohol was the main player and that starts as soon as you join the military but Vietnam was more drug oriented. Marijuana was by far the most used but acid while harder to get was just as popular and interestingly enough accepted and used by the boys who mainly stuck with alcohol. Only way I can explain it effects and acceptance was it just gave you a mental vacation for a few hours, a chance to get away from a place you couldn’t leave.
“”Like saying only military veterans have a valid opinion on foreign affairs.””
Had you said a valid opinion on war I would beg to differ, there’s quite the difference between that and foreign affairs. As far as Psychedelic drugs go I would value the opinion of a person who had actually experienced them of one who only read about them. Same goes with alcohol or drug addiction and it treatment. Those who have fought those battles and won are the ones I’ll listen to.
All drugs can be very dangerous in the wrong doses or in combination with other drugs.
I have no problem with methodical investigation of this stuff, but there is no doubt when you play with fire you can get burned—or you can get needed heat.
Big Pharma has destroyed their credibility with their drug pushing in other areas—so I cannot trust them to play this stuff straight.
“Timothy Learys Dead. 🎶🎵🎶
Total BS! Don’t ask me how I know. 😏
“”That’s not true. Psychedelic drugs offer a promising approach to treating psychiatric problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder.””
And in my opinion far safer that many of the prescription drugs used to treat these problems today. Benzodiazepines a drug commonly used to treat PTSD, Depression and a few other problems is probably the scariest drugs out there. Our VA’s are killing our returning troops right and left with these drugs or a combination of these drugs. These are the same drugs most of our mass shooting suspects seem to all be prescribed.
Not aware of that
He may have used LSD most likely not in a supervised clinical setting
Obvious street use
The totalitarians are becoming more sophisticated.
The Soviets just used vodka.
Can’t believe it took 24 comments to bring Timothy up. A great man!
As for MK-Ultra, they used hookers to lure in unsuspecting subjects who were not even aware that they were being fed the LSD. So, that right there was a disaster waiting to happen. Right then is when we should have known that the CIA needed to be 86'd.
That is the point but it is one you appear to be missing.
Psilosibin and ayauasca have been shown to have therapeutic merit in unmasking deep psych issues. If you feel that current depression medications are just great then we need not explore further.
If you happen to have someone dear to you suffering from mental illness its likely that you will have more of an open mind to research in psychoactive drugs.
BTW caffeine is a psychoactive substance.
We have a winner
Brain training for umm certain jobs?.
Clean and sober 29 years.
Not a fan of legalized marijuana, psychedelics much less so.
Open secret is mushrooms and mdma are already being taken by returning troops with ptsd. They help each other out and arrange secret sessions. Hush hush, but lots do it. Helps tremendously, keeps suicidal impulses at bay. Let’s wounded warriors missing limbs and unable to adapt to civvy life, adapt and accept. Life saving, life changing.
For those who really don’t know, just keep an open mind. Rather than ridicule.
